This role is ideally based in Toronto, ON, Montreal, QC or Halifax, NS and involves occasional travel to various HUB offices across Canada.  This is a great opportunity to exhibit HR subject-matter expertise and leadership skills in helping the organization raise employee engagement and drive positive business results. 

Responsibilities:

Working within the HR team, the candidate will apply their HR generalist background to champion HR services and provide our Ontario-based client groups the best service towards the growth and development of HUB.  The successful candidate will be an HR advocate and has the ability to effectively communicate with assigned client groups in developing and implementing its people agenda that aligns with, and enables, overall strategic objectives and broad range of organizational issues of critical importance to the business.  Other key responsibilities include: 
 

  • Collaborates with HR colleagues across Canada to ensure that all required HR related changes and activities are accurately facilitated.
  • Provides hands on support as the first point of contact for all HR related inquiries and escalates as necessary within assigned client groups
  • Fully understands and supports all HR processes to facilitate a positive employee experience.
  • Develops strong relationships with leaders and managers in the client group.  Anticipates business needs and provides realistic solutions aligned with the divisional business objectives through talent management solutions.
  • Partners with leaders to provide constructive guidance and coaching to drive quick resolution and develop leadership competencies
  • Works with the HR team in a shared services model to coordinate compensation, talent management and learning and development solutions.
  • Supports client groups with talent management process through identification and assessment of strengths and development opportunities.  Supports management in the preparation of development plans to ensure employees are prepared for future opportunities.
  • Provides timely and accurate HR processing for assigned client groups including, but not limited to, employee engagement, performance management, merit increases, incentives, and succession planning.
  • Completes all required French language translations on behalf of the HR team
  • Triages all employee relations within client group by making recommendations on required leadership coaching on performance management, performance improvement plans and terminations.
  • Provides support and participates in employee investigations, disciplinary or grievance incidents, as required, to resolve complex issues. Effectively communicate and ensures compliance with HR products, services, policies, employee handbook, programs and procedures to management and employees to enable them to move forward their people agenda aligned with business objectives.
  • Works with Chief People Officer with on HR projects and programs as required. 
  • Interprets people data reports and provides insights as it relates to HUB’s people agenda.
  • Provides administrative support to client group’s compensation and payroll administration approvals.
  • Involvement in the Health and Safety, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Mental Health and other relevant committees, as required.  

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-Secondary HR Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management; CHRP preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a HR Generalist or HR Coordinator capacity
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment law and regulatory compliance an asset
  • Experience working in a matrix structured organization
  • Strong written communication and French translation skills
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Confident and inspires trust with colleagues and client groups
  • Good organizational skills, flexible and resilient
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability and, through personal connection, motivates people to get things done
  • Skilled at building relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Possesses a rational, confident and mature approach to decision making
  • Well-developed critical thinking and analytical abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly responsive with strong orientation towards customer support
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable dealing with and able to influence senior managers. Effectively manages organizational complexities
  • Works effectively with other team members to solve problems and implement solutions
  • Insurance industry experience an asset
  • Strong ability to extend flexibility with the changing needs of the organization
  • Ability to travel to HUB Offices across Canada (less than 15% travel)
