OVERVIEW

The Human Resources Manager leads a team in the delivery of full Human Resources Services and is accountable for HR advisory services and administration, talent acquisition, total rewards, HRIS and reporting, policy development, engagement and recognition and HR projects.  Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Manager works collaboratively with peer Managers in Labour & Employee Relations, Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness and Organization Development to develop and deliver first class HR services to Hospital leadership and staff in alignment with the Human Resources Strategic Plan and Hospital Strategic Plan, Vision, Mission and Values.

The Human Resources Manager is a trusted advisor, building strong and effective relationships to advance operational goals and objectives.  With a view toward service excellence and innovation, the Human Resources Manager leverages their experience to develop and grow the Human Resources team.

Nestled in the heart of East Toronto, Michael Garron Hospital (MGH), as a keystone of the Toronto East Health Network (TEHN), is a vibrant 450-bed community teaching hospital serving one of Canada’s most diverse communities. For more than 90 years, we have delivered high-quality, patient-centred healthcare services to more than 300,000 people in 22 distinct neighbourhoods.  In 2022, MGH will celebrate the opening of our new eight storey Ken and Marilyn Thomson Patient Care Centre. This transformational project will forever change the hospital and the care it provides to our community in keeping our strategic vision to Create Health, Build Community.  Additionally, Michael Garron Hospital is an anchor partner in the East Toronto Health Partners (ETHP), one of Ontario’s first OHTs.  Through partnership with our ETHP partners, we collaborate to meet the health and social service needs of those we serve.

EDUCATION

-  University degree in human resources, business administration or related field  (Masters level preferred)
-  CHRL designation is preferred

EXPERIENCE

-  Minimum of seven (7) years of recent relevant leadership experience is required (preferably in a unionized healthcare environment)  
-  Minimum of ten (10) years experience providing HR advice and coaching in the areas of HR administration, talent acquisition, total rewards, HRIS and reporting, policy development and engagement and recognition in a complex, unionized work environment is required (preferably in healthcare)  
-  Demonstrated expert knowledge of leadership development and workforce  and succession planning, required 
-  Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative attraction, recruitment and retention strategies, required
-  Demonstrated ability to provide pragmatic business solutions to complex human resource issues in a dynamic, fast-paced, service excellence environment is required
-  Ability to demonstrate innovation and act as a change catalyst for process improvement to ensure efficient and effective best practice standards is required
-  Demonstrated ability to analyze and apply quantitative measures to evaluate outcomes, program efficiency and process improvements is required
-  Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written) with a demonstrated ability to build strong, trusting relationships is required
-  Excellent facilitation skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and effectively influence others is required
-  Strong business acumen and application of critical thinking skills to manage complex issues is required
-  Demonstrated experience in assessing organizational gaps and delivering creative solutions is required
-  Strong project management and budgetary skills is required
-  Demonstrated experience as a key partner in organization wide HR initiatives is required
- Current in all relevant human resources and employment related legislation
-  Proficient computer skills are required
-  Excellent work and attendance record is required
