Position Term: Contract Opportunity of up to 9 months 

Hourly Range: $31.93 - $37.57 per hour

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horse racing and private cannabis retail sectors in Ontario in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest. 

The Human Resources Generalist supports the analysis and delivery of routine and ad-hoc workforce reporting and analysis functions to ensure employee and candidate experiences are monitored, measured and managed to support better program, policy, and service decisions, and enhance the AGCO’s People First goal.

This position also involves working closely with the greater HR Operations team to support the day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, health & safety, benefits and leaves administration, and HR programs, policies and practices to meet AGCO’s objectives.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, key responsibilities include:

  • Providing critical analysis and reporting to support the continuous improvement of the Human Resources & Training Branch operations, and the design/provision of new or modified processes
  • Designing and preparing ad-hoc reports on employee-related matters for senior leadership and staff, and providing context and answering questions about available data
  • Managing full-cycle recruitment for specialized roles, including job posting, screening candidates, developing assessment and interview questions, interviewing, conducting references and facilitating offers and negotiations
  • Providing administration support for the AGCO Health & Safety Program, maintaining compliance with legislative requirements and managing all H&S Incident Report and Workplace Inspection Report record-keeping
  • Overseeing the STIP & Accommodation Program and conducting bi-weekly reviews of STD utilization reports to identify potential cases for referrals
  • Managing, Awards & Recognition Program, including Service Awards, Winning Spirit, and AGCO Advantage
  • Serving as an SME, counselling and providing procedural guidance to colleagues and team leads
  • Implementing and administering employee policies and promoting positive employee relations

The ideal candidate must have:

  • University degree with a focus on Human Resources or a related field
  • CHRP/CHRL designation through HRPA is desired
  • Extensive HR Generalist experience working with all levels across an organization in a fast-paced environment
  • Significant experience in managing full-cycle recruitment, including technical and specialized roles
  • Strong knowledge of applicable legislation, such as Employment Standards Act (ESA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Human Rights, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other HR-related regulations
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), collaboration, and interpersonal skills to prepare and present complex, authoritative analyses
  • Excellent ability to conceptualize, evaluate, and problem-solve
  • Strategic thinking, sound judgement and sensitivity to issues and ability to work with a diverse client group and staff at all levels
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, with demonstrated mastery of Excel to deliver timely analysis and reporting
  • Strong attention to detail to deliver consistent high-quality and accurate work
  • Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, exercise good judgment and make decisions
  • Superior organizational skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet and manage multiple and conflicting deadlines, and work under pressure
  • Exposure to a unionized environment and administering a collective agreement is an asset
