HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

Bayview Glen is currently looking for a Human Resources Manager who will be focused on providing exceptional support and leadership on a full range of human resource programs and services.  This position will be involved in areas such as: recruitment, employee orientation, joint health, safety and wellness, employment practices and legislation, the interpretation and application of staff policies and managing the HRMS.  The HR Manager will also work closely with the Human Resources Director on special projects and initiatives which may include research, data collection and HR reporting.  It is expected that this position will always maintain a high standard of confidentiality and professionalism.

The HR Manager undertakes a wide range of HR Generalist tasks with the goal to ensure the HR department is effectively delivering maximum value and support to employees and the School as a whole.  Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinates all aspects of full-cycle recruitment including advertising, screening resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews and completing reference checks. 
  • Actively participates in and provides leadership to the Joint Health and Safety Committee including scheduling of meetings, coordinating inspections and organizing required staff training;
  • Develops and coordinates a new employee orientation program to provide an informative and welcoming onboarding process;
  • Manages the HR elements of HRIS/Payroll system (ADP Workforce Now) in order to maintain accurate electronic files and maximize its utilization and effectiveness.
  • Maintains job descriptions for accuracy, completeness and consistency;
  • Administers and explains group benefit and RRSP plans to employees;
  • Assists in the organization and facilitation of school-wide training initiatives;
  • Assists with all routine internal and external HR related inquiries or requests;
  • Fosters and maintains a high degree of trust and integrity by providing accurate and timely information with a strong focus on customer service;
  • Assists with various administrative tasks such as filing, drafting employee communication and correspondence, production of various reports etc.;
  • Supports HR team with projects and initiatives;
  • Ensures the strict confidentiality and privacy of human resources information and records;
  • Participates in school-wide committees such as the Benefits and Social Committees.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • University degree in a relevant field of study; completion of (or working towards) Human Resources certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working at a senior generalist or supervisory level within a Human Resources department;
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and demonstrated experience working with databases and/or HRIS;
  • Knowledge of all relevant workplace legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ontario Labour Relations Act);
  • Stays current with Human Resources trends, best practices and legislative changes;
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload;
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to deal tactfully and effectively; particularly with difficult or sensitive situations;
  • A team player who jumps at the opportunity to lend a hand in any situation;
  • Exudes an energetic, self-motivated and results driven work ethic;
  • As a condition of employment, a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Record Check and CPR certification (Level C) are required.
