Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the HR department and Health and Safety
- Deliver the New Hire Orientation for employees.
- Evaluate existing training programs and other key training initiatives and provide suggestions on revisions
- Manage employee relations, including internal and external HR related inquiries/concerns/complaints and employee terminations.
- Management of occupational (WSIB) and non-occupational injuries and the return-to-work process
- Maintain job descriptions, employee policies, procedures, and work instructions
- Interpret and provide guidance on provincial regulations and relevant standards to ensure policies and procedures are updated accordingly
- Participate in employee engagement initiatives.
- Oversee the administration of the company benefit plan
- Establish Performance Improvement Plans and assist Supervisors and Managers with Corrective Action and as needed
- Oversee the administration of the annual performance review process for all salaried employees and ensure performance evaluation methods are adhered to by all supervisors and managers
- Provide coaching to manage employee performance and employee relations.
- Responsible for all compensation related activities including researches external sources in order to determine competitiveness of current compensation program and makes suggestions for improvements.
- Develops and implements human resources programs that align with the company’s strategic goals.
- Organizes and facilitates internal HR related training for all Supervisors and Managers.
- Develops and implements measures to increase employee morale, motivation and satisfaction, while reducing turnover.
- Oversee health and safety initiatives and provide oversight of Health & Safety requirements ensuring compliance.
- Partner with Supervisors/Managers to investigate and address employee issues while ensuring consistency in progressive discipline and investigations
- Ensure that we have consistently high levels of Management/Employee communications throughout our locations
Job Specifications—Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven leadership, presentation and facilitation skills
- A positive and proactive approach towards solving problems and meeting challenges
- Ability to deal with confidential information and interact with all levels of employees
- Previous experience working in the HR field in the U.S. or with U.S. affiliates would be an asset and is preferred.
- Working knowledge of and the ability to interpret the Employment Standards Act and other applicable legislations
- Ability to anticipate and manage change effectively
- Experienced in effectively coordinating and planning multiple projects, executing multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently while working with conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to provide guidance and direction to all levels of employees, assess training needs and address performance issues.
- Superior analytical, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Knowledge of Health and Safety standards
- Well versed in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
Education & Training Requirements
- A Bachelors degree or college diploma in HR related field combined with minimum 5-7 years of experience is required.
