Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, and working closely with the Executive Management Team, the Director of Human Resources leads the development and execution of the corporate human resources strategic plan. They oversee at team of approximately 17 addressing short- and long-term strategic HR objectives of the City across a full range of programs and services in the areas of Total Rewards, HR Technology, Workplace Health and Safety, Employee Wellbeing, Employee and Labour Relations, Learning and Development, Diversity and Recruitment and Selection. The Director is an advocate for collaboration and partnerships to promote organizational effectiveness and an engaged workforce.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned HR generalist who has significant experience working in a public sector environment and has strong knowledge of how a multi-unionized setting functions. In addition to your degree, you are a holder of the CHRL designation from the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario. You are skilled in training and development, implementing strategies that align with the organization’s mission and vision, and have presented and interacted with senior leaders. Your ability to establish a high level of client trust and confidence across departments sets you apart. Your passion for creating clear paths for employee growth and development has resulted in deep loyalty and commitment to the organizations in which you’ve served.
