Human Resources Business Partner

One Year Contract                        

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join the Human Resources Team. 

Reporting to the Manager, the Human Resources Business Partner will be responsible for providing HR support and consultative services in partnership with their assigned clients in alignment with CPSO strategic objectives. The successful incumbent will have functional experience working across multiple human resource disciplines, paired with advanced knowledge of employment legislation, a strong consulting approach to enable the successful delivery of progressive and proactive human resources programs and solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver both strategic and tactical HR support and programs to employees and managers, including organizational design, learning and development, compensation programs and all aspects of employee relations.
  • Conduct investigations in compliance with employment legislation as required
  • Coordinate all aspects of leave and disability management by working with staff, adjudicators, and rehabilitation consultants
  • Participate in compensation planning and job evaluation process; evaluate jobs and conduct annual market analysis
  • Provide change management support as it relates to organizational initiatives
  • Develop short-term and long-term people strategies and solutions including workforce planning, talent management and job design
  • Deliver end to end recruitment services by proactively planning, sourcing and hiring new talent
  • Collaborate with HR team and other departments to achieve continuous improvement outcomes and participate in organizational development projects
  • Liaise with broker and benefit providers to review and evaluate extended health benefit coverage and premiums; resolve complex benefit inquiries
  • Review and update employment policies to ensure compliance with employment legislation, guide leaders and employees on the interpretation and application of policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources with CHRP designation required
  • HRBP Certification is considered an asset
  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in a Senior HR Generalist or Business Partner role
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational development, change and process improvement (specific skills in Kaizen or PROSCI methodologies are preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment legislation; Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, AODA and best practices around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Strong HR & Business acumen, including problem-solving skills, critical thinking, professional demeanor, and attitude
  • Team oriented with a collaborative mindset skilled at building relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience coaching employees and management through complex and difficult issues, with well-developed influencing and negotiation skills
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills in Windows environment with experience using HRIS systems
