Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet.   In this role, the Talent Acquisition Partner plays a key role within the Talent Acquisition/recruitment function within the North American team and is accountable for the day to day delivery of a top tier recruitment offering for our Canada business.  The ideal candidate is located in either Calgary, AB, or Guelph, ON, but flexible work location and options are available.    Your scope will include:

  • Provide a top tier recruiting experience to hiring managers, candidates and HR colleagues
  • Delivery of the end to end recruitment process, focused on providing high levels of service and quality to stakeholders and clients
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand their recruitment need(s), agree on approach and remain actively engaged in
  • Ensure candidates receive an excellent experience, engaging them with the Syngenta brand, function, and opportunity
  • Provide timely and accurate progress updates to key stakeholders including TA Lead, Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners


  • Leads recruitment strategy meetings with hiring managers to understand their recruitment requirements and discuss the internal/external talent markets and agree on approach
  • Partners with the hiring manager to agree upon ways of working and communication channels; frequency of cadence meetings and timeline to ensure expectations are aligned
  • Develops the sourcing strategies for designated area of responsibility, using market knowledge and data analysis to inform these decisions; be flexible with altering strategies in order to achieve successful candidate slates and all-around best in class experience
  • Partners with the hiring manager and HR business partner to write a high-impact, creative job advert in line with corporate Syngenta branding, utilizing the company’s employee value proposition and any key local country/functional messages to attract a high quality and diverse candidate pool
  • Works closely with the business to develop campaigns that support both proactive and reactive recruitment initiatives
  • Manages external recruitment agencies where needed and the continuous assessment of agency performance
  • Manages end to end candidate management – sourcing, screening, shortlisting, interview, offer and onboarding
  • Manages and maintains the requisition/candidate workflow in a timely manner within the ATS (Taleo) to ensure data is accurate for reporting and HR administration hand off purposes
  • Contributes to the achievement of individual and regional SLAs and KPIs, while always focusing on the ‘client and candidate experience
  • Ensures issues and escalation management processes is followed where necessary
  • Works proactively with HR Business Partners and leadership teams to understand the medium and long-term needs of the business outside day to day recruitment management.  Collaborate with HR Business Partners to anticipate future needs in relation to talent strategy, pipelining, and ensure the correct talent attraction strategies are in place.
  • Participates in global, regional, or country level projects that enhances client experience and/or increase efficiency of the recruitment process / offering
  • Supports the full cycle administration of the Summer Intern Program, end to end.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in HR Management, business administration or a relevant field
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience as a recruitment / talent acquisition partner, experience within a global organization would be an asset
  • Proven track record of recruiting in complex, narrow candidate markets across multiple geographies
  • Strong communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Able to develop strong collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders and clients as well as external collaborators
  • Ability to influence a broad range of stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and execute robust sourcing strategies
  • Ability to source passive candidates through recruitment tools eg LinkedIn, ATS, CRM
  • Strong analytical skills and able to effectively analyze data and trends and translate into meaningful insights and actions
  • Ability to think through complex problems and determine solutions
  • Ability to create action plans with solutions to deliver on the most specialist hires
  • Working knowledge and experience in strategic sourcing methodology; candidate pipeline activities and search tools
  • Experienced in selection, interviewing and assessment methods or tools
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience performing successfully in a high volume full recruitment lifecycle environment
  • Deep knowledge of recruiting best practices and well versed in various sourcing & recruiting methodologies
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of applicant tracking systems (Taleo) and other recruitment technologies eg CRM
  • Knowledge of the agriculture / biotechnology markets desirable but not essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office application
