SCOPE
- Responsible for the accurate processing of the weekly hourly unionized payroll for the Fergus Plant (approx 175 employees)
- Act as a resource for Supervisor payroll inquiries and address employee questions and concerns
- Responsible for administrative HR support and act as HR back-up for employee inquiries
- General office administration
- Reports to HR Site Manager
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Responsible for supplying information and validation of information to ensure the accurate processing of the weekly hourly unionized payroll.
- Ensure payroll information is compliant with legislation and CBA
- Responsible for processing necessary changes related to payroll (eg. vacation pay, rate changes, benefit premiums, etc.)
- Act as a resource for supervisor payroll inquiries
- Answer employee payroll questions
- Provide monthly labour hours and information for monthly reporting
- Report on weekly labour hours, overtime, vacation and absenteeism
- Maintain the hourly employee attendance system
- Act as a back-up when HR Manager is unavailable to answer employee questions or concerns, take messages, etc.
- Track required training information for HR reporting
- Support HR Manager with administrative functions
- Organize Physical Inventory including checker training, supplies and procedures
- Process employee wire purchases
- Review social club expenses and act as co-signer on the account
- Maintain petty cash and lunch money for unionized employees as per CBA
- Maintain office supplies, phone system, postage meter and distribute mail
- Distribute internal communication
- Provide on-site accounts payable support
- Other administrative duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification is required
- 2 years related payroll processing experience is required (in Unionized environment preferred)
- Have or working towards CHRP designation preferred
- College Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration preferred
- Experience in ADP WorkforceNow (WFN) – definite asset
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines
- Experience in ADP WorkforceNow (WFN) – definite asset
- Experience in MS Office and SAP
