Together, we can make things right for our communities, our planet and our future.

The School is a diverse community of learning united by a shared sense of purpose — achieving personal and professional growth in a world of constant change. With a commitment to lifelong learning and access to education, the School offers professional programs and English language preparation. The School is composed of a dynamic professional programming unit that develops innovative certificate programs that prepare both domestic and international professionals to thrive in the rapidly changing world of work. The Institute, an integral part of the School of Continuing Studies, provides quality English for academic and specialized purposes instruction, serving students from more than 50 different countries, and is the largest public English Language Institute in Canada. The Institute’s students come from around the world to pursue English-language proficiency in the context of their academic and professional goals, taking advantage of flexible pathways, specialized streams, and accelerated timelines designed to support what comes next. The Institute offers a range of specialized courses to meet the needs of specific groups of students (primarily international students), with the teaching of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) as a main focus. Students outperform their peer group and come away with a combination of practical knowledge and broad expertise to prepare them to meet their life goals. The Institute’s programs have been developed in one of the most multicultural cities in the world and on campus at the third largest university in the country. The Institute embraces the value that comes with diversity.
