Human Resources Generalist - Palmerston ON Plant

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the HR Team at the Palmerston location. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle of recruitment for various positions in the Palmerston facility including the internal job posting system.
  • Liaising with Managers, Supervisors and Temporary Agencies to identify needs of a temporary work force and resolving issues that may arise.
  • Effectively engage employees and communicate with all levels of the organization providing advice, assistance and follow up on policies and procedures.
  • Support, coach and counsel front line supervision in employee relation and legislative matters. 
  • Provide new hire orientation training and ensure new hires are recorded in payroll system and enrolled in group benefits 
  • Conduct investigations when needed.
  • Responsible for coordinating the Concerns Resolution Process and record keeping.
  • Manage employee discipline in consultation with Manager, Human Resources.
  • Effectively resolve employee issues and concerns for support teams.
  • Explain benefits program to employees and serve as a liaison between employees and Benefits provider
  • Conduct and collect benchmarking data.
  • Work with the EHS team to assist the team with immediate issues that arise
  • Oversee WSIB, STD and LTD claims submissions and return to work program
  • Assist the Manager, Human Resources with projects, policy development and implementation of HR initiatives.
  • Assist and coordinate when necessary general administration functions that include Social Committee, fleet administration and facility maintenance.
  • Participate in networking and community events as needed.
  • Effectively engage employees and communicate with all levels of the organization providing advice, assistance and follow up on policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

Education or Experience

  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources Management with CHRP or designation in progress with a minimum of 3-6 years’ direct experience in a Generalist capacity
  • Has a strong working knowledge of applicable legislation.
  • Based from the day shift schedule, must be flexible to support a 3 shift operation when required and multiple facilities.
  • Must have a strong customer focus along with solid interpersonal, and communication skills as will be interacting with people in all levels of the organization.
