The Opportunity

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading, implementing and executing AnswerPlus' HR strategy, key projects and initiatives. Working out of our Hamilton office, the HR Manager guides and supports our Leadership Team, Operations Managers, and all of our employees. Reporting to the CEO, the HR Manager is responsible for maintaining and executing various duties including recruiting, labour relations, benefits administration, policy development and implementation, health and safety, payroll, and other integral HR activities.

Here are some of the key areas of work you’ll be responsible for:

Essential Functions & Basic Duties

  • Coach and lead Managers and employees on key workplace matters such as performance management, difficult conversations, employee relations, and employee development
  • Ensure employees adhere to all health and safety regulations, including company policies, procedures and ethical standards
  • Develop and provide recommendations for policies and processes
  • Act as the main point of contact for our HRIS system, including training new managers, running reports, and keeping employee information up to date

Recruitment

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process e.g., job posting, resume review, phone prescreening, coordinating second interviews
  • Proactively source and develop a pool of qualified candidates utilizing job boards and other resources
  • Evaluate recruitment and selection criteria to ensure conformance to professional, statistical, and testing standards, recommending revision as needed
  • Work with hiring managers on recruitment planning meetings
  • Conduct regular follow-up with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans and implementation
  • Coordinate internal job openings, transfers, and/or promotions.

Benefit/Payroll Administration

  • Administer and educate employees of benefits and maintain a sustainable relationship with insurance providers
  • Coordination, administration and execution of all benefits related activities
  • Process employee benefits enrollment, changes and terminations
  • Review monthly billing statement

Labour Relations

  • Communication of Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations to all employees
  • Resolve employee relation issues
  • Administer progressive disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures
  • Handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations

Employee Engagement

  • Support the employee life cycle, engaging and recognizing employees at all stages
  • Implementing activities and initiatives with managers
  • Designing and building the best possible employee experience

Knowledge, Experience and Competencies Required

  • Post-secondary level equivalent or experience Human Resources
  • Outstanding communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to hire and train new team members
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Collaborative and team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and competency to see projects to fruition
