Define the Future

The AGCO is looking for a dynamic and strategic Director, Human Resources to lead the Human Resources and Training Branch within the Corporate Services Division. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and you will be responsible for the oversight and direction of strategic management of people and culture in the AGCO.

You will also lead the HR function by driving HR strategies, programs, policies and systems around talent management, succession planning, organizational design and development, labour relations, employee relations/employee engagement, well-being, diversity and inclusion, training, compensation and occupational health and safety. In addition, you will ensure that the organization complies with employment legislation such as the Employment Standards Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, Bill 168, AODA, Pay Equity Act, etc.

You will also be responsible for leading the Centre for Learning and Development including developing and delivering a long-term education, talent development, training and awareness strategies for both internal and external stakeholders of the AGCO. These strategies build the knowledge, skills, understanding and capacity of agency employees, regulated sector participants and the public as the AGCO delivers on its strategic priorities.

The ideal Professional Qualification's include:

  • Education and Designations: University degree in HR or related field coupled with extensive experience in senior management capacity; a Masters degree and a CHRP, CHRL or CHRE designation are assets.
  • Management: Significant, progressively responsible human resources management experience, preferably in a public sector environment with significant experience in a unionized work setting.
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated superior advisory and consulting experience to educate and guide leaders and to recommend innovative, progressive and viable solutions to organizational issues related to human resources.
  • Human Resources Leadership: Significant experience leading a range of HR disciplines, preferably in the public sector, including HR strategy and policy development, and operational program delivery including talent management, labour relations, recruitment, HR Systems, compensation and benefits, wellness, health & safety, equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Employee Engagement Strategies: Extensive experience in the development of strategies that impact the organization’s employee engagement such as: Human Resources Strategy, Well-Being Strategy, DI&A Strategy, Learning and Development Strategies, etc.
  • Talent Development Strategies: Extensive experience in talent development strategies in the areas of Organizational Development, Talent Management including employee coaching, leadership, development, adult learning and succession planning.
  • Labor Relations: Extensive practical staff relations knowledge and skills including negotiations; grievance handling; termination/discharge handling; performance management; in-depth applied knowledge of the implementation, interpretation and application of collective agreements.
  • People Leadership: Experience and ability to provide exceptional leadership to staff and to build enthusiastic, high performing staff teams.
  • Service Excellence: Demonstrated ability to provide customer service excellence across the organization through effective delivery of innovative programs and services in time-sensitive and changing environments.
  • Relationship Management: Effective human relations skills in dealing with executives, senior managers, staff and other stakeholders.
  • HR Legislation: A broad knowledge of legislation relative to the Human Resource fields including the Employment Standards Act & Regulations, Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations, labour relations and pay equity legislation.
