We are looking for a HR Manager to join our team in Toronto.

Our offices are currently open, and measures have been put in place to protect the health and safety of our employees, customers and community with COVID-19. This position will be required to work at our head office in North York, Ontario.

About the opportunity:

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the development and delivery of HR programs and services in the areas of recruitment and retention, employee relations, training and development, employee benefits and legislative compliance.

The successful applicant will contribute to the continuing success of Johnvince Foods by building positive relationships throughout the company and contributing to the development of creative and innovative strategies and initiatives that are aligned with the organization’s strategic direction.

What will you be doing?

  • Act as a valuable resource to the management team at all locations (including subsidiaries) by providing expertise, guidance, and coaching in all areas of human resources, including employee relations, performance management, attendance management, disability management, recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, pay equity, legislative compliance, etc.
  • Responsible for full cycle recruitment at all locations (including subsidiaries) including developing and implementing practices and procedures that attract and retain the best candidates, ensuring a fair and transparent process, and supporting hiring managers to in fill vacancies in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Support the Chief Administration Officer in implementing and managing initiatives that support the desired organizational culture and organizational change.
  • Nurture a positive work, creative and collaborative work environment.
  • Work closely with line managers at all locations to identify and resolve HR issues as they arise while promoting positive employee/management relations in carrying out day-to-day HR services and support.
  • Identify and address issues/trends that may affect the overall health of the organization including morale, turnover, absenteeism, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Support the CAO in developing and managing effective compensation plans and initiatives as well as meet Pay Equity obligations.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement employee engagement strategies and initiatives that drive business results.
  • Keep up to date and ensure compliance with various HR related legislative requirements, on employment laws and emerging trends.
  • Conduct timely employee investigations and prepare reports including findings and recommendations.
  • Research and recommend updates to existing, and the creation of new HR policies and procedures in keeping with HR best practices.
  • Identify training needs and implement, including providing staff training as appropriate (i.e., new hire orientation) in support of effective onboarding, employee and management training and development and to meet compliance requirements.
  • Create and provide reports, including KPI’s metrics as required.

If you have the following background & personal attributes:

  • Completion of 4-year post secondary education program or equivalency
  • Minimum 5-7 years previous experience
  • CHRP designation required or working towards designation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required, ADP an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s licence maintained in good standing and own vehicle
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities 
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment considered an asset
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across the organization
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making skills
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills
  • Results oriented
  • Client focused
