Moffatt & Powell RONA is currently looking to hire a Human Relations (HR) Generalist to join our team. This position is located at our Home Office in London, with travel to the different branches on a weekly basis.

Value of the HR Generalist

This HR Generalist is instrumental in supporting the HR team in guiding and supporting nine retail store management teams and employees across SW Ontario in HR related matters.  This role will also have a key role in developing effective training programs to enable a successfully onboarding process, new employees can properly support their store teams, and are set up well to grow within the company.

Specific areas the HR Generalist will support

Employee Relations

  • Develop supportive and trusting relationships with employees so they feel comfortable and safe speaking with the HR team regarding any aspect of their employee experience.
  • Be an active role model for employees, demonstrating a highly positive attitude and professional behaviour to promote a safe and healthy workplace, which supports the company’s goals of attracting and retaining highly engaged employees

  Training

  • Provide strong training background in training delivery of new hires 
  • Coach and support  managers to follow  recruitment process consistently to ensure fair and equitable hiring practices
  • Support in the organization, planning and promotion of all Leadership Training provided by third-party partner and all other external training initiatives in collaboration with HR and Operations team

  Performance Management

  • Support store management teams in providing effective performance feedback, through an honest and caring coaching approach for all staff which will inspire future performance
  • Provide support for managers when they require help speaking to employees about concerns and ensure the conversations are documented accurately and fairly
  • Participate within ethical boundaries to investigate complaints or incidents, while ensuring it is documented properly in coordination with store management

Policies and Procedures

  • Support the HR department in the development, updates and communication of HR and/or company policy and procedures
  • Stay current and compliant in areas such as our company policies, ESA, AODA, OHSA etc.

Administration, HRIS, and Communication

  • Communicate to employees and managers with sensitivity, professionalism and care at all times
  • Become an expert in Ceridian Dayforce  and work with the HR team with data entry into the system, to help maintain accurate and up to date data
  • Support branch managers by answering questions about employees using Ceridian Dayforce and personnel files

Health and Safety

  • Support Managers and employees with regular check ins, communications and return to work plans, coordinating and accurately tracking chosen accommodation
  • Actively promote safe work practices and ensure all are adhered to by all employees and that safety training and personal protective equipment are available to all team members

Experience/Education

  • 5+ years’ experience in an HR role
  • Post-Secondary Degree, Diploma in Human Resources or a related field
  • CHRP designation an asset
  • Experience with an HRIS, specifically, Ceridian Dayforce an asset
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint

Work Considerations

  • Must own a car and be insured as travel to any one of the nine retail stores is required
  • This role also may require a significant amount of desk time working at our home office sitting for long periods of time
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Lifting or moving up to 20 lbs may be required
  • Ability to work from home and office are options
  • Overtime is sometimes necessary
