The Human Resources and Professional Development (HRPD) Manager assists the regional HRPD managers, national director HRPD, and district HRPD managers in defining, implementing, and monitoring HRPD programs, policies, and processes in alignment with both sector and organization strategies and priorities, to position PCL as an employer of choice.

 As an HRPD Manager for our Canadian Buildings sector located at our North American Headquarters in Edmonton, AB, you will contribute to our team by:

  • Creating and coordinating sector Human Resources and Professional Development (HRPD) programs related to all stages of the employment life cycle including Recruitment, Compensation, Career Management, Succession, Student Program, Leadership Development.
  • Observe the execution of all programs in the districts to ensure they are aligned with the sector strategy.
  • Leading the communication and change management plan associated with the implementation of programs, policies, and processes at the sector level.
  • Providing mentorship on the execution and implementation of sector HRPD programs, and processes to district HRPD teams.
  • Acting as a liaison between the Canadian Buildings HRPD team and the Canadian and US Corporate HRPD teams.
  • Advocating that sector interests and needs are met by corporate HRPD programs, policies, and processes.
  • Crafting sector-wide processes and best practices to ensure consistency across the Canadian Buildings districts.
  • Analyzing and identifying trends and recommending solutions at a sector level.
  • Managing the development and performance of HRPD students and coordinators.

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in human resources or a related subject area preferred.
  • Completion of HR designation preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive human resources experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience of HR professionals preferred.
  • Outstanding relationship management skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • Strong business acumen, with an understanding of industry practices and new developments.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Established planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Advanced experience in training, facilitation, and managing complex facilitated sessions.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through significant change management initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable systems.
