We have an exciting opportunity available to join York U’s Compensation team in HR.  In this role, you will be responsible for managing the job evaluation process for casual unionized staff (YUSA2) including ensuring compliance with the YUSA2 Pay Equity Agreement and the YUSA2 Collective Agreement in addition to ensuring the community's compliance with internal YUSA2 processes.  You will provide a high level of customer service to the management and HR community related to the documentation and evaluation of YUSA2 jobs in order to facilitate the prompt posting/sourcing of these positions and subsequent payroll processing to the incumbents. You will participate with YUSA executives in the quarterly sore-thumbing exercise to respond to questions and provide rationale for factor level selection on individual jobs.  You will be responsible for managing the student employment (Summer Student and Work Study Student) processes related to ensuring job documentation submissions support the category and wage rate schedule and all job data for input to PeopleSoft is accurate.
 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring the following:

Education:
General Undergraduate degree and/or CCP or CHRP designation.  Knowledge of compensation theory and principles relating to job design, job analysis, job documentation and job evaluation in order to provide advice and support to the management and human resources community related to YUSA2 positions. General knowledge of HR and employee/labour relations to facilitate advisory services and support provided to the community.

Experience:
3 -5 years' recent experience working in Human Resources, preferably in a unionized public sector environment with active recent involvement in job analysis, job documentation and job evaluation. Exposure to and/or involvement with Pay Equity and the implementation of a Pay Equity Plan is a definite asset.  Experience in a service-oriented role responding to client needs and requests on a timely basis in a high-volume environment.
