Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, Canada this position will be an integral component of the Human Resources department. The Human Resources Generalist will provide day-to-day support for the Human Resources function at Tempur Sealy Canada. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the full-cycle talent acquisition process across Canada as required; 
  • Work with multiple departments across International to maintain data integrity in the Global HRIS;
  • Update and maintain HR reporting across Canada;
  • Ensure all required documentation received, audit and maintain employee personnel files;
  • Conducting new employee orientation and onboarding;
  • Administer training programs, scheduling and maintaining of related records;
  • Plan, implement and manage employee events;
  • Promote HR programs to create and efficient and conflict free workplace;
  • Assist the Senior Manager, Human Resources in selected areas of administration and maintaining related site and department documentation;
  • Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of human resources policies and procedures ensuring they meet corporate and legal requirements, best practices and organizational objectives;
  • Support performance management activities with direction from the Senior Manager, Human Resources;
  • Communicate to internal stakeholders’ human resources procedures, policies, laws, standards and regulations;
  • Assist in the preparation for collective bargaining process;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a college diploma or university degree in Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent work experience;
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation preferred;
  • 2 - 5 years’ human resources work experience, preferably in a manufacturing and unionized environment;
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication (written and verbal) skills;
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft suite of products including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bilingual French an asset, not a requirement.

Required Skills

  • Translation of company requirements into concise and precise language that provides a brief overview of the Company’s varied programs and conditions of employment.
  • Ability to develop interview questions based on job postings and to properly evaluate responses for both ability and company-fit during candidate interviews.
  • Ability to translate material into working documents that are readily understood by all levels.
  • Ability to communicate materials to differing levels of personnel.
  • Produce new and re-enforce existing practices to ensure that all policies abide by applicable legislation and cover all employee groups.
  • Ability to guide managers and supervisor through any performance management issues that may exist within their team and provide support throughout the process.
  • Properly address any questions or issues brought forward in a professional manner.
