Be part of a banking experience as unique as you are.  Tandia Financial Credit Union (Tandia) is seeking a talented and experienced Human Resources Specialist to join our HR Team. 

You will be based at our beautiful new corporate office in Burlington, Ontario - while working remotely on a temporary basis due to the present circumstances of the pandemic. 

Your Work at a Glance

As the HR Specialist, you will support our HR Team in a variety of areas. Recruitment will be a primary focus along with coordinating staff movement, maintaining and creating job descriptions, providing general administrative support to all areas of HR and more.

You have a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration and are willing to jump in and help wherever needed. We are a small team collaborating together to fulfill our mission of providing outstanding support to all of our internal and external clients.

As our primary resource for internal and external recruitment efforts, you will maintain a high level of communication and client service with hiring managers and all candidates. You will be involved in all phases of recruitment from intake meetings, to interviewing, to presenting offers, to tracking new hire progress. You will be relied on to maintain accurate records, coordinate all employee movement, and track and report on recruitment metrics. As a specialist in recruitment, you will follow emerging trends and make recommendations to help us continually improve our processes.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of 3 – 5 years of work experience in Human Resources, including at least 3 years of recruitment experience. Prior experience with a financial institution would be a strong asset.
  • Has experience recruiting in non-union and union environments and at all levels from entry level to management.
  • Has a post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources and CHRP designation.
  • Has a thorough understanding of pertinent employment legislation, including Ontario Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, etc.
  • Has strong communication skills, both written and oral, and has positive, confident, professional and engaging interpersonal skills.
  • Is detail-oriented with strong planning, organizational and time management skills. Has the ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities.
  • Has strong technical and software skills i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Applicant Tracking, and HRIS.
  • Has excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Has a commitment to on-going professional development and a willingness to keep skills/knowledge current.
  • Is able to work well both independently and as a team member and with all levels of management.
  • Is able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information.
  • Is aligned with Tandia’s vision and values and demonstrates a desire to be a contributing member of our team, support a positive work environment that promotes service and commitment to the credit union, quality, innovation, integrity, and respect.
