Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing the recruitment and selection for all employees of the company, including but not limited to, working with the hiring manager to develop a Position Description, preparing all advertising material, performing screening interviews, devising tests for applicants, and recommending new hires. Conducting reference checks and preparing employment contracts.
- Processing payroll for company employees and completing General Journal entries for the accounting system
- Managing year-end reconciliations and generation of T4’s and Releve 1’s
- HRIS management and employee transitions including registration of new hires, succession planning, career moves, and terminations.
- Implementation and maintenance of any Human Resources Policy or Procedures
- Provide first-line support on HR programs and policies, answering questions and directing to the appropriate contact if escalation is required.
- Managing the benefits programs including the renewal process, payments, reconciliations, employee enrollment, education, and termination.
- Consulting with Managers on disciplinary actions and proper escalation including the preparation of written warnings.
- Working with Safety and Compliance with Workman’s Compensation; registering coverage, processing payments, reporting claims, preparing Early Return to Work paperwork, and completing annual reconciliations and audits.
- Organizing corporate and employee functions
- Assumes any other assigned and related tasks as directed
Education (Theoretical Training)
- Post-secondary training at the University or Community College level in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline.
- Bilingualism in French and English would be an asset.
Job Requirements / Experience
- 3 to 5 years related experience in a similar HR capacity with strong knowledge of HR principles and practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Should have the proven ability to influence a positive work ethic and have solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask with proficient skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledgeable in the applicable Provincial and Federal employment standards.
