Parkland is growing and has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Manager to join our team. The HR Manager is a full-time one-year Term position reporting to the Director, Labour & Employee Relations. This individual is a key member of the Corporate HR Team and is responsible for supporting employee and labour relations for existing properties in Etobicoke and Mississauga, as well as growth within the region of Ontario.

Shannex opened Parkland on the Glen in Mississauga in 2015, followed by Parkland on Eglinton West in 2020. Today, Parkland continues to grow and will open its newest lifestyle residence in Ajax in Fall 2022, with a future community planned for Ancaster in 2024.

Who You Are…

As the successful candidate, you possess a university degree in Business Administration or a similar discipline, with a focus on Human Resources Management or Labour Relations. Ideally you hold a CHRP designation and have You are proficient with interpreting policy, legislation and/or collective agreements and providing sound advice/coaching to management related to managing people and policy implementation. You have a strong ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple responsibilities and requests. You work well autonomously with an initiative to proactively address human resources concerns in the workplace. You possess the competency to investigate, document and recommend consistent and defensible outcomes to labour relations issues. Travel will be required within the GTA and occasional travel to Nova Scotia. The primary locations of work will be Etobicoke and Mississauga.

What you will do…

  • Provide confidential operational and tactical advice and counsel to leaders in employee and labour relations, performance and development, employee engagement and retention, workforce planning, attendance and HR initiatives;
  • Manages employee development and supports an orientation program for employees to receive appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job;
  • Supervise and support ongoing training initiatives and conducts training;
  • Provide guidance on, and interpretation of HR policies, procedures and processes;
  • Develop relationships with Hiring Managers and Team Members to foster ongoing and open conversation and trust, serve as leadership coach and confidant, provide necessary counsel and support, communicates performance expectations and supports implementation of progressive discipline;
  • Supports employee engagement and recognition initiatives;
  • Investigate and manage complex employee and labor issues including but not limited to investigations, performance and attendance management, and progressive discipline.
  • Provide guidance on and/or represent the organization at grievance meetings, where applicable and serve as subject matter expert in the interpretation and administration of the Collective Agreement and Terms and Conditions;
  • Ensure employee and resident safety by following and applying all standard operational procedures, safe work practices and training provided;
  • Any other duties as assigned.
