Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads the integration and execution of HR programs and services across the properties in the GTA gaming bundle to align with the advancement of Great Canadian’s (GCGC) overall business goals and strategic plans
  • Partners and supports the EVP, Operations and the site leaders to develop, lead, and implement strategies to deliver on overall GCGC business goals and creating plans to maximize team member engagement to shift internal culture; including change management strategies and tactics
  • Provides leadership, HR, labour relations, business expertise and strategic direction to site HR and operations in GTA gaming bundle
  • Outlines the role of the HR function and priorities over the short, medium, and long term and oversees the implementation of HR strategic goals driven at the site level and from HR Shared Services
  • Collaborates closely with all Regional HR Directors (Ontario and Atlantic) to ensure consistency in HR practices across gaming bundles and regions
  • Provides input to and collaborates on the development of HR programs, policies and procedures, standards, training, organizational development, recruitment, onboarding, performance and talent management, engagement, succession planning, employee and labour relations (LR), health and safety, and wellness, among other topics, and liaises with site HR to direct and assist with implementation of such at the site level
  • Leverages experience and business acumen to support the evolution of the company’s people strategy, ensuring business needs and priorities remain at the core of HR programs and services
  • Promotes teamwork and collaboration among site HR teams including supporting the development of professional skills
  • Develops performance goals and delivers performance partnership discussions for direct reports
  • Contributes to the company’s business strategy by framing issues and providing key insights and recommendations
  • Communicates with stakeholders to keep them informed of the work of the organization and to identify changes in the community served by the organization
  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all business units and levels
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders, including guests, leadership and team members
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Manages other initiatives as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Degree in Human Resources or suitable combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Human Resources management
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) or other HR designation preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with a proven track record of success as a strategic and creative organizational leader in roles that have involved responsibility for HR and solid knowledge of LR delivery in a complex operational environment (unionized and non-unionized)
  • Proven track record of developing high performance cultures and directly contributing to the enhancement of overall business results
  • Deep subject matter expertise and a comprehensive understanding of progressive HR policies, strategies, processes, and related legal context
  • Demonstrated ability to influence the business at the operations level, working within a Shared Services environment
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and mentoring with strong interest in development and the success of others
  • Open and approachable leader who has proven their ability to be an exceptional influencer and who builds strong relationships
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and listening), interpersonal and customer service skills with the presence and ability to develop productive relationships in a multi-stakeholder environment, including with senior leadership, internal guests, team members and colleagues
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective, and service-oriented communication
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Oracle Cloud HCM or related cloud-based HR systems experience an asset
  • Ability to obtain gaming registration in Ontario – a comprehensive background check and disclosure of personal and financial information directly to gaming regulators is required
