Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, direction and mentoring to the Human Resources teams at the site level; develops performance objectives and delivers performance reviews for direct reports; provides guidance on conflict resolution, performance management, career development and succession planning
  • Coach, guide and advise site leadership teams on HR policies and best practices. Support operations and provide direction and guidance to the leadership teams on all areas of HR matters
  • Leads annual HR budget process for the 2 sites in addition to monitoring, updating and reporting any budget variances;
  • Leads, manages and organizes all labour relations activities for the two sites including understanding and administration of collective agreement and continues to foster partnerships at labour management meetings.  Identifies internal and external labour issues and trends; recommends improvements, efficiencies and training opportunities; assists with training implementation and delivery;
  • Directs programs such as recruitment, orientation, training, attendance management, health, safety & wellness, etc., at the two sites;
  • Develops and implements HR strategic plans as directed; ensures site operations align with corporate objectives;
  • Develops, maintains and enhances the ‘One Toronto Gaming’ employer brand strategy and collateral; works in conjunction with OGGTA marketing on the creation, development, transformation and introduction of all Human Resources brand initiatives;
  • Acts as a resource and ambassador for change management initiatives to drive an effective adoption for change;
  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments;
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership, employees, vendors and regulators;
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations;
  • Performs other additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources Management (diploma/degree in HR) or an equivalency of work experience of at least five to seven years in a Human Resources management position. A combination of education/experience may be considered;
  • Direct labour relations management experience required; including grievance management, arbitration and collective bargaining
  • CHRL designation preferred;
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through leading by example and by providing timely, effective and service oriented advice and service to departmental leaders;
  • A track-record of effective human resources customer service to a number of departments with competing needs, and providing sound advice on sensitive matters;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality; mediation and conflict management/resolution experience is required;
  • Superior ability to communicate effectively; listening, writing, speaking and presenting;
  • Proven ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, interpret data and determine implications, provide recommendations, and effectively resolve issues;
  • Computer literacy in all applications of MS Office and HRIS experience required
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement;
  • Collaborative (solicits input to improve/enhance strategy and development);
  • Candidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule.  The hours of work will be based on business needs.
