LeverageTek IT Solutions is actively seeking a Human Resources Manager to join our internal team in Ottawa, Ontario on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a new position to our company of 13 internal employees and 120 sub-contractors.

Primary Focus

The Human Resources Manager serves as an impartial link between the organization and its colleagues and works to promote a healthy and inclusive work culture, job satisfaction, positive relationships, and career development. This role is responsible to lead recruitment of internal employees, administration and review of benefits and compensation, building programs the encourage mental health and balance, co-worker welcome and on-boarding, development of guidelines and policies, training, performance reviews, and safety administration.

Job Description

Scope

· Working as the head of Human Resources, ensures HR programs and initiatives are aligned with corporate vision, values, culture, strategies, and goals.

· Develop, review and update HR guidelines, policies, forms, and templates.

· Responsible to lead the recruitment process, support the hiring leader in finalizing job description, advertising, interviews, and so on.

· Support organizational growth by sourcing and interviewing candidates for various internal positions.

· Develop relationships with Leaders as a trusted advisor, provide assistance with use and interpretation and implementation of guidelines and policies, and providing options and guidance.

· Develop relationships with co-workers, providing assistance with their needs, and generally supporting job satisfaction at the organization. Advise or assist co-workers with questions or concerns regarding company policies, compensation, benefits, their role, or life at the organization.

· Responsible for the HR Welcome process. Work with the Operations Administrator and the new co-worker’s Leader to ensure the co-worker has access to all the tools and information that they need to be successful. Ensure all co-worker contracts and related documents are signed and up to date, including safety requirements.

· Work with the company’s Executive Leadership Team to build an equitable, diverse and inclusive workforce.

· Be aware of the business environment, current needs of organization, as well as industry and business trends.

· Work with the Operations Administrator regarding development and review of benefits plans and compensation/total rewards.

· Ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation.

· Work with the Operations Administrator to ensure administration of benefits plans, including tracking of vacation and days-in-lieu.

· Communicate with benefit providers, including annual co-worker information updates.

· Assist with organization and facilitation of staff meetings and social events.

· Assist other departments such as administration, purchasing, payroll, etc. as required.

· Manage the administration of the training program. Work with Leaders and co-workers in promoting technical training, coaching, and soft skills training, in alignment with team/corporate needs and identified co-worker goals.

· Work with Leadership team to administer co-worker Performance Reviews.

· Advise or assist leaders in discussions around performance issues, as required, including the Progressive Discipline program.

· Provide day-to-day administration, communication, and assistance to leaders and Co-workers regarding the safety program.

· Interface with safety vendors and provide required information.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Skills and Experience

Key Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP)
  • Knowledge and experience in all areas of Human Resources professional practice, demonstrated by at least 2 years of human resources experience, and 2 years or more years of business experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in all areas of internal Recruitment.
  • Strong client service skills. Ability to develop rapport with co-workers and Leaders, and to develop an understanding of their needs,
  • Problem solving skills--able to balance the goals and needs of the co-worker with those of the company and its leaders in helping develop possible options and solutions in various situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

Skills Required

 

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful circumstances.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure, and ability to manage time and priorities.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, as well as work well as part of a remote team.
  • Good ethical standing (bondable) as the HR Manager is expected to work independently, with direction from their Leader. A high proficiency level with software tools like MS Office Suite.
