Ascio, Enom, Hover and OpenSRS are all part of the biggest Internet company you’ve likely never heard of: Tucows (NASDAQ:TCX, TSX:TC).
We started as a simple shareware site in 1993 and have grown into a stable of businesses; mobile, internet and domains.
We embrace a people-first philosophy that is rooted in respect, trust, and flexibility. We believe that whatever works for our employees is what works best for us. It’s also why the majority of our roles are remote-first, meaning you can work from anywhere you can connect to the internet!
Today, close to a thousand people work in over 16 countries to help us make the Internet better. If this sounds exciting to you, join the herd!
Tucows is building extraordinary software to help global telecoms transform. We think the timing has never been better to build in this space, and we're looking for a dynamic leader to join us.
As Head of People, you will be empowered to build different, out-of-the-box programs to ensure a world-class experience. We want to do what others haven’t done. We want to continue to blaze new trails and try new things in the People space that succeed in creating positive outcomes for our employees. We want someone who is tired of doing succession planning in June, performance management in November, and all of the other standard HR programs, with little opportunity to alter the approach or the ability to think of unique ways to accomplish the same things. We want different – different ways to do old things, but only if it makes sense. If it doesn’t make sense – then we aren’t interested in doing it! If by chance it has worked at other organizations, great – they can have it. We want progressive performance management strategies, programs that help elevate our leaders, ideas for how to foster a flexible work environment, a partner on recruitment strategies to enhance our ability to attract top talent….and, that’s just the beginning!
You will work with a phenomenal team dedicated to this business line and will be the driving force to cultivate all aspects of the employee experience from talent acquisition, onboarding, performance development/career growth, and off-boarding. You will report to the Chief People Officer of Tucows, our parent company, and you will sit on the executive leadership team as an accountable business partner. You will help us ensure our core operating principles are woven into the fabric of our new organization while maintaining a fair, flexible, and inclusive work environment.
This is an outstanding opportunity to be a strategic partner to the business and to execute your vision as we build this new organization. It is entrepreneurial, but you have a great team behind you. It is an opportunity to learn and leverage a fantastic range of business skills.
If you are with a startup, you will appreciate feeling resourced for success. If you are in a large corporation and have always wanted to change the game in HR, you will definitely appreciate feeling empowered and encouraged to think out of the box.
We’d like to hear from candidates with:
- Relevant people operations or related business experience at a high-growth company or tech start-up SaaS experience preferred
- Proven track record of setting strategies that have a cultural impact
- Confidence engaging in high-level strategic discussions with our executive team, as well as assuming a leadership role in a complex and fluid organization
- A passion for bringing people together and creating connections especially in a remote world
- Self-starter who is capable of and energized by doing as well as leading
- A desire to colour outside of the lines and try new things
- Deeply responsible, accountable, and data-driven - must be comfortable leading and influencing with data
- Passion for improving the experience for employees
- Can build high trust and impactful relationships with employees and leaders at all levels
Note: This is a remote role, working from home.
