Director, Workplace Engagement Services

The Corporation of the County of Bruce requires a Director, Workplace Engagement Services – Walkerton, Ontario

Reporting to the CAO, the Director, Workplace Engagement Services directs the development, implementation and coordination of policies and programs covering all aspects of Human Resources (HR), ensuring the development and consistent implementation of workplace engagement policies and practices throughout the corporation. The payroll division falls within the department, with the responsibility of ensuring accurate and timely payments to all employees. The incumbent is also responsible for the Health & Safety division within Workplace Engagement department. This includes organization, development, planning and implementation of a full range of policies and programs that will assist the Corporation in meeting Health & Safety challenges. The incumbent also serves as chief advisor on workplace issues including employee relations and wellness.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP)
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) considered an asset.
  • Seven to ten years of previous experience in a generalist role in Human Resources management at the senior level
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
  • Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and policies
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating strategic and engagement-planning initiatives
  • Experience in change management
  • Experience in employment grievance resolution
  • Experience with budget preparation and management
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Experience with coaching and development of management-level employees
  • Experience with strategic development and initiative-based project leadership
  • Intuitive grasp of organizational structure to manage cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary resource allocation
  • Proven experience in collective bargaining
  • Proven experience preparing and conducting post-implementation evaluations
  • Proven experience with resource management
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Sound understanding of risk management
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License
  • Strong interpersonal skills including Conflict management and resolution.

Wage Range:  $130,185 - $153,153 annually based on a 35-hour work week.
