About the Position:

The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing an HR function in a high-growth, exciting company.  Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, the HR Associate is a knowledgeable HR professional with a broad generalist background, providing front-line expertise, advice and support to clients across the organization.   The HR Associate will support the development and implementation of new HR practices and programs, designed to help nurture our amazing corporate culture and enable Equiton to meet business objectives.


Key Functions and Responsibilities:

On-Boarding

  • Quarterback the creation of a comprehensive, company-wide on-boarding process in support of positive new hire experiences and strengthening and promoting our corporate culture
  • Ensure all aspects of on-boarding are completed in a timely fashion

Recruitment

  • Support the implementation of centralized recruitment practices
  • Ensure recruitment records/reports are maintained and accurate in Dayforce
  • Collaborate with hiring mangers on their recruitment activities including job postings, interviewing for cultural fit, drafting offers of employment, conducting references and background checks
  • Educate management on recruitment best practices and interviewing techniques

HR System, Data, Administration and Insights

  • Participate in implementation of Dayforce – supports the project management ensuring progress meets deadlines
  • Leverages technology to develop/deliver key metrics, compile data and create reports
  • Ensures information is accurate and current

Benefits & WSIB

  • Ensure benefit administration (new hires, changes, terminations) are complete in timely fashion
  • Answer employee benefit inquiries and promotion of Equiton benefit offerings
  • Prepare documentation for WSIB administration, assist management with return-to-work programs

Policies & Procedures:

  • Supports the development of policies, procedures and manages on-line policy training
  • Ensures Health & Safety process/policies are followed and tracked

Performance Management

  • Support the migration of Performance Management program to Dayforce (fully automated)
  • Prepare presentations, education on the best practices and Equiton performance process
  • Prepare reports, bonus, and merit increase letters

Learning & Development

  • Support employee training needs and source learning vendors
  • Track completed L&D programs via Dayforce

Employee Engagement:

  • Support the employee engagement surveys process and prepares summary report
  • Gap analysis and action planning to address areas of concern

  • Strong interpersonal skills and judgement - work well with stakeholders across all levels of the company
  • Proven ability to think strategically/connect-the-dots and deliver exceptional results
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and make sound decisions based on priorities and risks
  • Keen eye for detail, highly organized and efficient
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Likes to have a bit of fun! 

Education and Experience:

  • HR Generalist background minimum 2-3 years of progressive experience working in a high growth, entrepreneurial environment - financial, real estate investment management-related organization is preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field and/or HR certification
  • Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario (HRPA) with CHRP or CHRL designation in progress
  • Solid understanding of employment law, regulations, and best practices
  • Implementation of or experience with Ceridian Dayforce highly desirable
