Based at our Toronto Pearson Airport or North York’s regional office, the HR Generalist will be providing professional and administrative support to the Human Resource Department, providing HR advisory services to department managers and all employees and will be reporting directly to the Manager, Human Resources.  The position will be the first point of contact for the frontline employees for all HR related matters. The position requires the candidate to be available to work from the office location only with periodic travel to the Head office in Burlington.

What you will do:

  • Conduct new employee onboarding by providing orientation materials and preparing employment contracts.
  • Drive processes relating to the complete employee life cycle including new employee "touchpoints", benefit orientations, performance management, internal promotion and transfer offers, leave of absences and employee departures. Conduct and analyze exit interviews for purposes of identifying trends and patterns, and make recommendations to improve employee engagement and retention levels
  • develop and implement HR policies and projects in recruitment, onboarding, talent management, organizational and employee performance, employee engagement and culture, leadership, communication, legislative compliance, etc.
  • Manage WSIB claims for all employees, including regular communication with the company's WSIB consultant, case managers and employees. Submits WSIB reports and tracks incidents. Work with HR and Health and Safety Manager and participate in the return to work process ensuring employees transition safely into their pre-injury jobs
  • Supports the development, maintenance and implementation of HR Policies and Process documentation. Prepares and maintains reports, tracking key HR metrics and analytics.
  • Provides day-to-day HR guidance; supports and implements HR policies, procedures and programs and acts as a first point of contact in employee relation matters and/or queries concerning policies.
  • Maintain HRIS system: Responsible for administering all hiring, terminating and maintenance of all employee information on the HRIS system. Conduct periodic audit of HRIS database for ensuring data accuracy.
  • Management Relations: Coach managers on HR policies, programs and procedures; update on latest HR practices.
  • Employee and Labor Relations: Communicate any HR updates to employees, act as a point of contact for employees; handle all employee relation issues and assists in counselling and corrective actions, lead workplace investigations and submit reports, respond to employee queries regarding company policies, practices, programs and processes relating to the employee experience, lead and manage employee recognition / engagement programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Who you are:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources Management.
  • 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a minimum of 3 years of HR experience in a Generalist role.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in MS Office especially MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with all related legislation including but not limited to E.S.A., CLC, Labour Relation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, W.S.I.B, Human Rights Act etc.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills- both oral & written
  • Excellent organizational, time management and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • A high attention to detail with the ability to act with discretion and confidentiality
  • Experience in working in a unionized environment is an asset
