Role Summary

We are looking for a seasoned HR Business Partner to join a Global team of People & Talent Professionals for a 16-month contract. The successful candidate will partner with OANDA’s Engineering client groups, providing advice and support on strategic issues and will support OANDA’s technical People Leaders in implementing Talent Initiatives. This position supports Technical People Leaders and is responsible for providing progressive and value-added solutions for managing people. This role will require partnership and collaboration with various business leaders to build the organizational capability, improve its structure, enhance productivity, develop work culture, thereby helping the business achieve its strategic objectives.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience as a Business Partner ideally within a global organization.  You will proactively partner with leaders in our Toronto, Poland and London offices to develop integrated solutions that align employees and management with the company’s business objectives. You will ensure People practices and processes are designed to support and enable the business and thrive in a fast- paced, technology driven company. While this position is based out of our Toronto office, OANDA offers a flexible work arrangement with flexibility to work from a home office.

Responsibilities

  • Workforce planning: Provide strategic support to the management of workforce planning, which would include attracting, developing, and retaining the best talent.
  • Problem resolution: Provide support to business leaders in anticipating and solving organizational issues, managing people and in adapting to change.
  • Employee focus: Collect feedback from employees and take actions towards meeting their expectations while ensuring alignment with business objectives. Represent the voice of employees and work towards increasing their engagement.
  • Developing the work culture: Works toward developing an organizational culture that keeps employees highly motivated and engaged, where issues are addressed quickly, and where growth and development are among the highest priorities.
  • Consulting: Perform a consulting role for driving organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Support business leaders: Provide support to business leaders in executing their division-specific strategies by giving relevant input through talent discussions and assistance in decision-making.
  • Identifying issues in HR operations: Identify gaps in the performance of people operations teams, provide recommendations that support strategic people plans and the organizational objectives.
  • Support Business Partners: Provide support to Business Partners by collaborating with them in matters concerned with employee lifecycle management, managing talent pipeline, leadership development, performance assessment, and succession planning.
  • Administration: Perform administrative tasks concerned with investigations on people matters, ensuring legal compliance, HRIS reporting, and the development and delivery of training programs.
  • Programs: Lead global initiatives in areas such as equity, diversity & inclusion, corporate social responsibility, or immigration & relocation depending on experience and interest.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree, diploma or certificate in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in people operations, preferably as a people partner or in a generalist role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and to handle confidential/sensitive information with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to work flexible hours on occasion as required.
