WORK ILLUSTRATION:

Responsible for timely reporting and data analysis, troubleshooting and enhancing human resources information systems (HRIS) in support of departmental goals and objectives. The incumbent responds to inquiries from internal customers and stakeholders as it relates to department and business unit matters, and engages in continuous improvement activities and projects including the development of departmental processes, procedures, job aids and reports.  

The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:                       

  • Gathers, organizes, and analyzes data to support departmental/divisional and/or organizational management systems, operations, and objectives.
  • Executes reporting to support daily/weekly/monthly management system requirements (cyclical) and ad-hoc requests.
  • Reports on departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). Conducts data gathering and gap analysis and creates dashboards for better data visualization.
  • Liaises with stakeholders to collect required data for reporting and provides data to stakeholders as requested.
  • Acts as a key departmental resource for the implementation and operation of systems, tools and processes, including the management of key processes within the HRIS system.  
  • Works with internal (i.e. information technology) and/or external vendors, supports system enhancements, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinates small-scale system updates for human resources systems.
  • Assists with business unit requests for system enhancements, gathers and summarizes requirements, and recommends solutions. Monitors and verifies the quality and integrity of source data. 
  • Consolidates test cases and participates in internal and external audits of system data and HR processes.
  • Responds to both internal and external stakeholder and customer questions and requests.
  • Resolves customer issues and escalates as appropriate. Guides (and redirects) employees and business leaders on questions related to organizational policies, collective agreements, reporting requests, benefits, core human resources data, legislative requirements, or general human resources inquires.
  • Reviews internal processes, procedures, and reports and provides recommendations for improvement and automation.
  • Actively supports team in delivering quality solutions to meet and exceed business goals; continually strives to improve existing practices.                    

REQUIREMENTS:                                         

  • University Degree in Human Resources, Commerce, Social Sciences, or other related field.
  • Post-graduate diploma or certification in human resources management (or data / people analytics) is an asset.
  • Three (3) or more years of progressive experience with a focus in human resources and / or data analytics preferred.
  • Strong data analytics, reporting, computer, and Microsoft Excel experience (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, conditional formatting, etc.)
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and/or dashboard creation abilities (Macros, Tableau, Alteryx, etc.).
  • Experience compiling, presenting, organizing, summarizing, and providing recommendations on data.
  • Experience interpreting collective agreements, benefit plans, and/or internal procedures.
  • Experience troubleshooting and managing Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), SuccessFactors, and/or SAP ECC experience are an asset. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures.
