Job Description

An exciting permanent full-time opportunity at Women’s College Hospital as a Manager, Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning, and Equity exists reporting to the Director, Human Resources and Volunteer Services.

The Manager, Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning, and Equity leads a designated HR team in the provision of advice and guidance with respect to services, policies, processes, programs and projects that support the employee life cycle. The incumbent collaborates with a variety of stakeholders proactively to develop and implement creative solutions aligned with the Hospital's mission, vision and strategic direction in support of the overall goal of transforming healthcare and co-creating best health possible through innovative care, research, policy, education and system solutions.

Reporting directly to the Director, Human Resources and Volunteer Services, the Manager, Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning, and Equity provides oversight in the areas of employment equity, human capital planning, retention and talent acquisition.

Summary of duties include by not limited to:
• Execution of Human Resources strategies and goals, as set by the Director, focusing on operational excellence and client service
• Management and mentorship of designated members of the HR team; set individual and team goals. Monitor individual and team performance and take action when required.
• Regularly review processes, such as performance appraisals, and practices with the mindset of continuous improvement using the PDSA approach.
• Contribute to the implementation of the People Strategic plan within the organization and recommend opportunities for increase efficiencies and cost savings.
• Develop, recommend, implement and evaluate human resources talent acquisition policies, systems, practices and procedures .
• Manage the recruitment and talent acquisition strategies to attract, motivate, develop a diverse pool of candidates, and retain top talent.
• Maintain reports and metrics to assess the efficiency and capability of the workforce and organizational structure.
• Define and oversee the tactical approaches for implementing hiring plans and strategies: its methodologies, workflows, processes, policies and tools with a focus on retention.
• Partners closely with the Strategic HR Business Partners to deliver on organizational design and strategic workforce planning initiatives.
• Identify effective relationships with external networks to drive key leadership search solutions.
• Understand and build out talent pipelines, review capabilities and strengths and develop cost effective search strategies to proactively identify future talent needs.
• Contribute to the implementation of the People Equity Plan, with a focus on Employment Equity, to ensure that WCH is an organization where staff and leaders feel a sense of inclusion and belonging.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business, Commerce, or related field required
• Master’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred
• Professional certification (CHRP/CHRL) preferred
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in progressive leadership role, with oversight and accountability for a team providing full scope of HR services in a fast paced, unionized organization
• Certifications and applied practice in one or more of the following an asset: workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, project and/or change management
• Effective use, deployment, and implementation of HR technology (HRMS, ATS), dashboards and analytics.
• Work experience in project management and overseeing multiple initiatives
• Sound working knowledge and experience with HR practices and principles including provincial legislation (Human Rights, Employment Standards, AODA, Health and Safety) Collective Agreement administration and the ability to effectively interpret and apply accordingly
• Strong relationship management skills with experience in partnering, influencing, coaching and building credibility with leaders and the HR team
• Act as an advocate for safety and demonstrate principles, practices and processes that optimize a safe environment for all
• Knowledge and experience in applying relevant provisions of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, collective agreements, human rights case law, and related legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act)
• Highly developed communication, presentation and human relations skills, with the ability to communicate persuasively and effectively at all organizational levels
