- Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation, administration and processing of monthly payroll for all Canadian and US employees.
- Prepare and verify statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, insurance and pension plans, as well as other deductions.
- Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses and vacation pay.
- Prepare payroll related filings and/or remittances and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, pension, Records of Employment, garnishments, and other statements.
- Responsible for internal timesheet management across multiple operation segments.
- Responsible for workers compensation remittances for multiple jurisdictions, including preparing summaries and associated returns.
- Responsible for maintaining monthly vacation schedules.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Prepare ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Collaborate with the HR and other departments to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate.
- Complete other duties & responsibilities, as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This position requires an individual with:
- Post secondary education in Accounting or Payroll, with a minimum of 3 years’ related experience required.
- Experience with ADP processing software.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Ability to manage tasks with a high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple, complex projects and priorities.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- PC proficiency (including Microsoft Office); advanced knowledge of spreadsheet tools (Excel, pivot tables) a must.
