  1. Responsible for the accurate and timely preparation, administration and processing of monthly payroll for all Canadian and US employees.
  2. Prepare and verify statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, insurance and pension plans, as well as other deductions.
  3. Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses and vacation pay.
  4. Prepare payroll related filings and/or remittances and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, pension, Records of Employment, garnishments, and other statements.
  5. Responsible for internal timesheet management across multiple operation segments.
  6. Responsible for workers compensation remittances for multiple jurisdictions, including preparing summaries and associated returns.
  7. Responsible for maintaining monthly vacation schedules.
  8. Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
  9. Prepare ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  10. Collaborate with the HR and other departments to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate.
  11. Complete other duties & responsibilities, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This position requires an individual with:

  • Post secondary education in Accounting or Payroll, with a minimum of 3 years’ related experience required.
  • Experience with ADP processing software.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage tasks with a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects and priorities.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • PC proficiency (including Microsoft Office); advanced knowledge of spreadsheet tools (Excel, pivot tables) a must.
