Purpose:

Provide human resources support to employees and management in the areas of recruitment, training, health & safety, employee relations, benefits, and compensation.

REPORTS TO:

Corporate VP, HR

KEY Responsibilities:

  • Ensure practices and procedures comply with the various legislation including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Human Rights Code
  • Advise managers and employees on the Human Resources Policy Manual and employment legislation interpretation
  • Direct the recruitment process for hourly permanent and temporary hires
  • Prepare and present employment offers to successful permanent and temporary hourly candidates
  • Conduct orientation for new hourly hires, including training on company policies and health & safety
  • Complete training needs reviews for new hires, transfers or promotions
  • Respond to various employee inquiries in a timely manner with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Maintain employee personnel and training files
  • Maintain employee management systems including Synerion, HR database, Payroll database (Lotus), and various spreadsheets
  • Prepare and document employee attendance, counseling and discipline notifications
  • Prepare letters for employees, including transfers, memos, and letters of employment
  • Process benefit enrolments, changes, and terminations of coverage
  • Participate on various committees, including Shop Floor, Social and/or JHSC.
  • Manage the Employee fund, per company policy, and recognize employee birthdays each day
  • Help organize and participate in social events, such as Retirement parties, Company picnic, Adult and Family Christmas parties, dinners and lunches
  • Complete various weekly, monthly, and yearly reports
  • Track HR-related invoices for temporary agencies and send to Accounts Payable in a timely manner
  • Ensure all employee documents are available and accessible, including training forms, benefit packages, and wellness material
  • Oversee First Aid Room and kit inventory
  • Support the department projects relating to the business plan or other areas, as required
  • Communicate with both internal and external personnel, including managers, employees, adjudicators, training organizations, benefit providers, Service Canada and social events planners
  • Provide backup and support to the Human Resources Manager, Human Resources Generalist and Occupational Health & Safety Specialist
  • Perform other duties as required and as established in Mott policies

Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Labour Relations or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an HR role, payroll experience would be an asset
  • Working towards CHRP designation
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Attention to detail is critical
