Talent acquisition specialist

In this newly created role to Loyalist College, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in all areas of hiring to support our faculty, administrative, and support areas of the college. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Recruitment, Equity, and Development, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is considered a subject matter expert in providing expertise and solutions in the areas of talent acquisition and management (recruiting, recruitment brand, and onboarding/integration). The successful candidate will provide recruitment expertise and a key role in bringing in top talent to the College by ensuring a standardized talent experience in line with our strategic goals and college values.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop recruitment strategies for full-time and part-time roles within all areas of the college Identify and establish sourcing strategies, such as social media tools, proactive networking, and employee referrals
  • Work with Hiring Managers and People and Culture Advisors to confirm position requirements, job descriptions, and create job postings Provide confidential, sensitive, and practical advice on recruitment and hiring approaches
  • Ensure that all information is current, and activity is updated on a regular basis for tracking, metrics, and recruitment processes
  • Support hiring managers regarding the hiring process by developing questions, recommendations regarding advertising, creation of panels, appropriate testing, and evaluation and rating processes
  • Leverage behavioural interviewing methods and/or a variety of recruiting techniques, offers advice and participates on individual and/or panel interviews and provides support and counsel for Hiring Managers throughout the recruitment process
  • Upon recommendation of the Hiring Manager, prepares offer of employment, works through end approval processes to hire, ensures offers are in line with budget requirements, presents offer letters, and works with candidates until completion. This includes offer negotiations, background checks and/or reference checks Builds and maintains strong professional relationships with leaders, internal partners, and candidates
  • Delivers a best-in-class candidate experience by managing talent pipelines, acknowledging all applicants, and engaging in regular communication
  • Assists and supports with implementation of new onboarding program that will help candidates during their transition to Loyalist College Administrative functions including, but not limited to, creating onboarding plans, coordinating introductions, campus tours and meetings, People and Culture orientations, and learning management Supports the creation of best-in-class recruitment brand strategy internal and external to the college by creating job posting boiler plates, social media channels, networking opportunities with the integrity of the college values most forward facing

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years’ experience in a recruitment or talent attraction role Experience within talent acquisition, talent management, and candidate brand
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Advanced degree in Human Resources Management is an asset.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader (CHRP/CHRL) is preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and HRIS systems
  • Superior communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to influences others and to gain support for ideas
  • Ability to coach all levels of leadership throughout recruitment processes and selection
  • The ability to multitask and to project manage initiatives to completion
  • The ability to work independently with little direction in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and strict confidentiality
