COTA Health (Cota) is an accredited, not-for-profit, community-based organization in Toronto that has been supporting adults with mental health and cognitive challenges to live well within their communities for over 45 years. This includes person-centred supports that assist individuals to find inspiration and hope in their inherent strengths and support them to pursue meaningful change in their lives, as they define it.
The Opportunity

To drive team achievement and performance in the people and culture of Cota to help even more clients live well within their communities.
Reporting to the CEO, the Director, People and Culture will ensure strategies and programs are in place to support and enhance a high performing, values-based organizational culture. The Director will champion strategic goals and support the organization in attracting, developing and retaining the right talent, building high performing teams, strengthen people management capacity and build a workplace culture that reflects our values: Hope, Respect, Collaboration, Dedication, Accountability and Innovation.
Qualifications
- 7+ years progress HR experience, 3+ years of experience as an HR Leader/Manager
- 5 - 7 years progressive Human Resource experience in a unionized community-based organization
- CHRL minimum, CHRE an asset Evidence of continued professional development
- Previous demonstrated experience as lead negotiator in collective bargaining Knowledge and practical experience with progressive, people practices and agile methodologies
- Knowledge of current HR legislation Demonstrated project management/change management skills
- Ability to develop a high trust relationship with the CEO and other organizational leaders
- Experience managing diverse and complex relationships and building engagement across the organization as well as with the union
- Ability to identify gaps and opportunities, develop solutions and lead and implement change
- Demonstrated ability to lead, support and develop an HR team Interest in and ability to be an advocate and ambassador for positive, diverse workplace practices
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and team playing skills, including the ability to ask the right questions and respectfully engage in difficult conversations
- High emotional intelligence, drive for results, managerial courage
- Professional integrity, sound judgment, service excellence mentality
- Experience working in a not-for-profit or transferable experience
- A proactive, energetic and entrepreneurial leadership style
- Ability to effectively manage numerous projects simultaneously
- Ability to championing all HR initiatives and demonstrate Cota Values
- Ability to maintain flexibility in approach to work while maintaining a “can do” attitude
- University Degree or related post-secondary education
- Postgraduate Degree in HR/related field an asset
