The Corporate Services department is seeking a permanent full time Compensation Specialist to join our dynamic team.  Under the direction of the Manager, Human Resources this position provides advice and guidance regarding compensation and benefits for a number of employee groups by analysing trends, conducting studies, keeping up-to-date on new legislation, and developing strategies and tools to support corporate compensation and rewards program. This includes pay equity administration in a public corporation. This position is located in Lindsay, Ontario, however we are open to discussing a remote work arrangement.

Essential Duties
•    Lead and facilitate initiatives related to the corporate compensation programs and union agreements to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and business plans by bringing expertise on the subject, researching best practices, analyzing various options and making recommendations
•    Analyze compensation trends in the market, conduct salary surveys and benefit reviews, and make recommendations
•    Administer pay equity compliance within each plan, reviewing processes and recommending efficiencies; Evaluate new or changed positions to maintain pay equity within the programs
•    Develop and apply methodologies for job design, organizational structure, recommend job titles and prepare job descriptions
•    Manage pay equity process for non-union and union plans; facilitate meetings of the various Joint Job Evaluation Committees; participate as coordinator of the Steering Committees
•    Maintain the corporate documents associated with pay equity to minimize risk; develop and maintain standard operating procedures
•    Prepare final changes; obtain approval from union executive; update charts, plans and schedules; prepare reports to Council, if required
•    Maintain positions in applicable software in support of payroll and budget functions
•    Respond to a variety of inquires both in writing and verbally for the purpose of resolving issues and/or providing information
•    Performs other related duties as assigned

Skills and Education Required
•    Post-secondary degree in Business Administration or a related field
•    Minimum 4 years of related experience, preferably in a municipal environment
•    Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or similar designation or willingness to obtain/maintain
•    Demonstrated expertise in:
      o    Job analysis, job evaluation for pay equity compliance
      o    Designing, conducting, analyzing, and reporting on compensation survey
      o    Statistical data entry and analysis using relational databases and other statistical software
      o    Preparation of accurate job descriptions for multiple uses
•   Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and
     meet deadlines (some non-negotiable); ability to deal with multiple demands
•    Effective communication skills including ability to listen to understand, and verbally and in writing to convey information clearly and effectively
•    Attention to detail and accuracy
•    Demonstrated customer-service skills to maintain cooperative/collaborative working relationships both within and outside the organization
•    Demonstrate professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropriately, treat sensitive situations with appropriate degree of tact and discretion
•    Work independently to administer programs and cooperatively to achieve outcomes
•    Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Excel
•    Ability to attend various work locations within Kawartha Lakes on occasion
•    Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check will be required
