What This Position is About:

Reporting to the Director, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion & Organizational Development, the HR and Talent Officer is a hybrid administrative position, accountable for providing a complete range of strategic and operational human resource, talent, and organizational effectiveness services.  This role blends equity, diversity, and inclusion with talent acquisition and recruitment, including full cycle recruitment and selection activities during all phases of attracting top talent including development of job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, assisting with selection decisions and facilitating employment offers.  The HR and Talent Officer is a key member of the HR team, responsible for recruitment and selection/talent acquisition, including implementing changes and initiatives as part of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Action plan, working with managers to apply an equity lens to update or develop new job descriptions, automating recruitment processes, metrics and analytics related to talent acquisition and exit interviews, developing leader and employee tools, supporting onboarding, guides, and other support to address current and emerging needs in areas of responsibility. 

Please Note: This position has been designated as hybrid/partially remote and is expected on-site 50% of the time.

What We Are Looking For:

As our ideal candidate, you will have a relevant combination of experience and education, including:

  • A 3-year CAAT advanced diploma or university undergraduate degree in a related discipline such as Human Resources, Business Administration, Labour Relations, Human Services, Organizational Development, or equivalent
  • To compliment your formal education, you will possess at least 5 years of experience, ideally in a similar setting, with a focus on core recruiting and talent acquisition activities, equity-informed talent practices, HR data and metrics, process automation, and other talent lifecycle activities
  • You have the ability to communicate effectively and clearly with leaders across the College to encourage and cultivate cooperation and collaboration
  • You experienced and capable in responding to requests for accommodation within the hiring process
  • A CHRP (achieved or in progress) or other relevant professional designation and a member of HRPA in good standing are considered to be strong assets for this position

To be successful in this position, you will need a strong understanding of human resource principles, equity-informed talent activities, and experience working in a unionized environment.  You will have demonstrated experience working collaboratively with leaders and managers to develop job descriptions, support the recruitment process, and guide the application of an equity lens in talent and recruitment activities.
