What can I expect to do in this role?

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the four Vice-Presidents, in this position, you will:

  • Act as a key point of contact and expert resource in providing strategic guidance and advice on the development and implementation of the Ontario Science Centre’s diversity and inclusion strategy, including managing the roadmap and promoting the strategy within the organizational culture Develop and deliver communication and change management plans and strategies to support the implementation of initiatives Develop, monitor, and report on program analytics and feedback for integration into the Ontario Science Centre’s business and organizational planning Provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior leadership on issues, projects, and initiatives related to people and culture Develop and foster collaborative working relationships with management and staff across the Centre to encourage the exchange of ideas and the sharing of information Lead, and participate on, committees and working groups that promote a collaborative, visitor-focused culture.

How do I qualify?

Leadership and Project Management Skills:

  • You model commitment to diversity, inclusion, accessibility and anti-racism in all aspects of leadership and interactions with staff, colleagues, partners and clients. You have the demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and/or working groups of professional staff who are not direct reports. You have excellent project management and organizational skills to effectively scope work requirements, set and manage priorities, and coordinate activities and deliverables across multiple areas/project stakeholders under tight timelines and with limited resources.

Knowledge of People and Culture Principles and Practices:

  • You have a keen understanding of, and expertise in, people and culture practices and trends, including experience leading or supporting equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives. You are knowledgeable about legislation, policies and programs in several of the following strategic knowledge areas: diversity & inclusion, anti-racism, leadership development, employee engagement, change management and culture change, and can apply that knowledge in providing advice to senior executives. You have experience with supporting transformational initiatives and organizational change and development initiatives.

Communication and Relationship Management Skills:

  • You have strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with senior executives, colleagues, partners, industry stakeholders and team members to exchange information and input, discuss issues, build consensus and achieve results. You act with integrity, your commitment to confidentiality is unquestioned and you can develop appropriate responses to sensitive situations. You have demonstrated exceptional written communication skills to develop programs and prepare reports, recommendations, briefing materials, presentation decks and communications materials.

Analytical Thinking, Research and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • You are a conceptual thinker with proven strong analytical and research skills to monitor and evaluate programs, identify impacts, develop recommendations, and understand and interpret complicated business initiatives. You can take initiative to research and analyze information in response to a full range and complexity of requests, including priority or contentious issues, and determine appropriate responses.  You can effectively review and synthesize information and distill it to the most important points to provide feasible solutions and recommendations.
