The incumbent has the responsibility of providing professional expertise in all areas of human resources management. Through sound management practices, this position will ensure the everyday administration of salaried administration, hourly administration and labor/employee relations. This position also plays an active role in the development, implementation and communication of sound business plans. Ensure that the plant has and maintains Human Resources systems that support the short and long-term business objectives of the plant and achieve a “World Class” Human Resources organization for the facility

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day plant employee relations. Ensure positive and effective employee relations in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, collective agreement and company philosophies.
  • Serve as the contact for members of plant operation when direction, guidance or H.R. related involvement is required.
  • Assure plant is effectively organized to attain organizational goals.
  • Manage sick and accident claims.
  • Participate in contract negotiations
  • Participate in local and national wage/benefit surveys to remain abreast of contemporary pay offered at similar businesses in our region.
  • Assist in developing annual HR budget.
  • Assure compensation and benefit systems attract and maintain appropriate skilled employees, but remain competitive to allow the various businesses to succeed in the competitive worldwide automotive supplier marketplace.
  • Lead contact for the Ministry of Labour communications.
  • Facilitate the negotiation strategy of the collective agreement.
  • Participate in the arbitration process when necessary.
  • Ensure facility is in compliance with legislation.
  • Encourage and institutionalize equal employment opportunity and work force diversity.
  • Assure HR professionals are developed and maintain a high level of training in all appropriate skills.
  • Attend monthly Health and Safety meetings.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

 

 

+    BSc in Human Resources or other business-related course of study.

 

+    5+ years of H.R. Manager experience

 

+    5+ years working in a Unionized Manufacturing environment is required

 

+    Ability to negotiate effectively

 

+    Excellent interpersonal skills.

 

+    Strong problem solving skills.

 

+    Strong organizational skills.

 

+    Highly motivated.

 

+    Assertive nature.
