Job Description

Reporting to the Director, HR Services, or designate, be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the compensation, benefits and HRIS portfolio.

Responsibilities

Duties include:

  • providing guidance and strategic thinking in the design and maintenance of the total rewards package;
  • developing and managing the organization's employee benefits and compensation programs and systems, including pay equity and OMERS pension;
  • ensuring that compensation and benefits programs align with the organization's financial objectives while striving to be competitive in the employment marketplace;
  • developing, implementing and maintaining compensation and benefits policies, procedures and guidelines; developing reports and producing credible HR analytics, metrics and costing for the purposes of key performance indicators (collective bargaining, workforce planning, etc.) and to enable delivery of HR services in an efficient, cost effective manner;
  • accountability for HRIS data integrity, system maintenance and implementation of new modules;
  • represent and chair the Joint Job Evaluation Committee, including conducting ad-hoc evaluations and market analysis as required;
  • and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge and skill generally associated with the completion of a 4 year bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline, plus a minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years relevant experience, at least three (3) of which are in a supervisory capacity, or have the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Compensation Management Specialist (CMS) and Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designations are an asset.
  • Established computer skills and demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite and PeopleSoft.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate courteously and effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff, elected officials and the general public.
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and flexibility, with ability to plan and work independently; ability to exercise good judgment is essential.
  • Superior analytical, financial and statistical skills, including HRIS.
  • Technical expertise in areas of compensation and benefits programs and practices, salary and benefits administration, job analysis, job description writing, job evaluation systems and pay equity, HRIS.
  • Knowledge of current applicable legislation.
  • Ability to provide own transportation for travel between sites, as required.
