Summary

The Talent Acquisition Specialist (TAS) works closely with the business to identify effective sourcing channels for top talent and manages the candidate flow process from sourcing through onboarding. The TAS builds strong relationships with hiring managers to effectively communicate the talent acquisition process and proactively builds and manages pipeline of talent for future needs.

Main Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with hiring manager to recommend strategies for identifying and recruiting potential candidates
  • Develop selection criteria, hiring profiles, and confirm job requirements for vacant positions in consultation with hiring manager
  • Source potential candidates through online portals, recruitment sites, job boards, social platforms, as well as agency and print media when required
  • Maintain recruitment log
  • Maintain recruiting dashboard and reporting of metrics
  • Receive and review applications, screen candidates, and facilitate pre-interview assessments
  • Prepare interview tools, conduct, and coordinate panel interviews with selected candidates
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of best practice recruitment guidelines and hiring policies
  • Liaise with HR colleagues to facilitate a smooth onboarding experience for new staff
  • Maintain awareness of best practices, industry trends and recruitment standards
  • Participate in networking events, workshops, and seminars to enhance subject matter expertise
  • Support other talent management initiatives and projects as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Commerce, Business Administration or related field
  • 4 years relevant experience
  • Experience working in a private, not-for-profit organization is an asset
  • Professional designation (CHRP or CHRL) through the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA) is required
  • Membership in good standing with the HRPA is required
  • Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) designation is an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and manage change
  • Advanced time management skills and organizational skills
  • Advanced customer service, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Solutions focused and ability to use sound judgement

Working Conditions

  • Flexibility to work overtime at peak times may be required

This role is based in Mississauga and the successful candidate may have the ability to work remotely in accordance with the Organization’s policies and procedures dealing with remote and/or hybrid work arrangements in effect from time-to-time. On February 17, 2022, the Executive Team announced the decision to explore becoming a fully remote, and nationally distributed organization.  We are aiming for February 2023 as the date to finalize a decision in this regard.  There is much work to be done, including the assessment of which roles, if any, require in person attendance going forward.  In the interim, staff work remotely (or work in our office in Mississauga).  Attendance in the office and at offsite meetings is voluntary during the pandemic, although there may be policies and/or procedures that require regular in-person attendance introduced in the coming weeks.  Unless otherwise identified, all new employees and internal employees who apply for new positions will be expected to commute to our office in Mississauga at their own expense if required to do so.
