The purpose of this position is to develop, plan, implement all human resources policies, procedures, programs,  and processes of human resources department.

 

This is a full-time position reporting to the Manager of Administration.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible to:

 

  • Plan, organize and administer the recruitment and selection process such as job posting, screening, interviewing and selection. Prepare job descriptions in collaboration with department managers. Resolve issues of department managers with the staff in collaboration with MOA. Search new avenues for talent. Develop and execute personnel procedures and policies. Provide responses to HR and payroll related inquiries. Update and maintain attendance reports. Interpret and advise managers and employees on personnel policies and procedures. Resolve complaints, workplace conflicts. Discipline management and conduct Workplace Investigations. Conduct/organize training, onboarding, personal and professional development of employees. Improve the systems and processes of HR. Ensure proper completion of work injury related paperwork and liaisoning with WSIB. Create and manage of HRIS system.. Ensure legal compliance of HR regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required. Maintain and update personnel filing systems. Ensure proper completion of various HR related forms including but not limited to Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD) and liaise with Insurance provider to facilitate Return to Work of employees.

Education and Experience:

 

  • Degree/Diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent or related field. Over 5 years of human resources experience. Certified Human Resources Professional designation or equivalent will be an asset.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong problem-solving abilities. Maintain high attention to details and strict confidentiality. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Organizing skills and conflict resolution skills. Computer skills including use of software, word processing, spread sheets, presentations, internet and email.

What You Need to Know:

 

  • Must be able to provide a current Criminal Record Check satisfactory to the First Nation. Must be in compliance to Rainy River First Nation’s Drug Testing Policy. Must maintain strict client confidentiality and abide by the Rainy River First Nations’ Personnel Policy. COVID-19 Vaccination (double) required. Must have the ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends. Personal development and other training may be required from time to time and will be done as required. Must have a valid Driver’s License and vehicle access or reliable means of transportation to and from work.
