Responsible for providing administrative support and confidential services to maintain efficient Human Resources operations. Multi-faceted support encompassing recruitment, compensation, benefits, learning, organizational and development, disability and case management, Human Resource Information System (JDE), and City’s Intranet / Internet sites. Maintains, monitors, and replenishes departmental stationary inventory. Exercises sound judgment to resolve matters which may be political and sensitive in nature. Coordinates/schedules meetings, training, testing and maintains office administration and records management processes and procedures. Responds to and redirects inquiries/communications when required; and completes special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Post Secondary education (Diploma or Degree in Business, Human Resources, or suitable equivalent).
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ administrative experience preferably in a Human Resources environment. Recruitment experience considered an asset.
  • Certified Human Resources Leader designation or working towards certification is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective oral and written communication skills including exceptional organizational skills coupled with ability to multi-task effectively while contending with conflicting demands.
  • Ability to self-manage, work independently and as part of a team with ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and sound judgment.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, etc, and HRIS systems, and Sharepoint.
  • General understanding of legislation relating to human resources management
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a high volume, fast paced environment. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with members of the public, staff, and external organizations.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in, the City’s core and leadership competencies and relevant functional competencies.
  • Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required.
