The Director, Human Resources is accountable for the planning and execution of a full range of human resources programs and services to the Corporation including the development of the service delivery requirements and expertise in the full scope of human resources management: labour relations (including collective bargaining), talent acquisition, talent development, leadership development, workforce planning,  Official Languages, Employment Equity, human rights, organizational design and classification, compensation and benefits, HR systems, HR analytics to ensure excellence in the creation, implementation and delivery of policies, programs and service delivery to Ingenium.  In addition, the Director role is responsible for the Volunteer Program.  

Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation is a Crown Corporation and is subject to the Canada Labour Code.  As such, this role provides expert counsel to the CEO, VP, People and Corporate Services, and the Ingenium management team in relation to strategic and tactical human resources issues and topics and represents Ingenium in matters related to the Union local and representing Ingenium with other government agencies, outside contractors and private/public organizations.

EDUCATION:

- successful completion of degree or diploma in human resources management, labour relations or another related field OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience;

- CHRP/CHRL designation is an asset.


EXPERIENCE: 

- at least five (5) years of progressive management in directing corporate and operational human resource management service delivery;

- broad and comprehensive experience in the design and development of human resources management programs and services;

- broad experience in the development of corporate human resources strategic plans and the implementation of multi-year human resources strategic and business plans;

- experience with collective bargaining and negotiations with bargaining agents complemented with extensive experience in union/management relations;

- extensive experience in advising senior leaders on complex human resources/labour relations issues;

- savvy in dealing with multiple priorities and projects and working under tight deadlines with changing priorities with a fast-paced organizational context;

- demonstrated experience in identifying emerging trends and developing and recommending improvements to policies, practices, performance measures and systems.

KNOWLEDGE :

- mastery of theories, principles, methods and practices that govern all areas of human resources management: organizational design and classification, talent acquisition and talent assessment, labour relations, workforce planning, training/learning and development, total compensation, HR management systems, occupational health and safety and other associated programs;

- in-depth and comprehensive knowledge and mastery of modern HR management service delivery, practices and technology-based solutions and processes;

- broad and comprehensive of labour and employment law; understanding of Canada Labour Code, the Canadian Human Rights Act, the Official Languages Act as well as the spirit and intent of Treasury Board Secretariat Human Resources Management, Compensation policies and programs coupled with broad knowledge of human resources management delivery models and best practices in government and industry, including HRM best practices;

- in-depth knowledge and comprehensive knowledge of the methods, practices and approaches associated with collective bargaining, interest-based negotiation and dispute resolution;

- sound understanding of corporate strategic direction, key results areas, objectives priorities, and programs and roles and responsibilities of Government agencies, the Canada Labour Relations Board and the Ingenium Board of Trustees;

- broad knowledge of principles, frameworks, mechanisms and best practices in data analytics, leadership/management development, risk management, performance measurement, business review, continuous improvement and reporting
