Job Summary:

Reporting to the Chair of the Governance and People Committee of the Board, and linked to the Manager, Organizational Effectiveness, the Workplace Civility Specialist would work to create a harmonious and respectful work environment within the Hospital, where employees are reasonable and considerate in their interactions with one another, as well as with other clients and the public.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify, address issues and develop education working alongside leaders, staff and physicians across the organization to improve workplace well-being and adherence to the Southlake Code of Conduct In order to help identify potential areas of concern surrounding incivility, the specialist will attend a host of departmental, corporate and/or ad hoc meetings/events.   The individual will also review reports, including exit interviews, engagement results and other data to uncover areas that are reporting/acknowledging uncivil behavior. Be available for advice and counselling for dealing with workplace conflict between staff, physicians and all levels of management in order to facilitate informal resolution where at all possible  Write summary reports on findings, and make recommendations as appropriate, for independent external investigations where warranted Write and submit regular reports to the Governance and People Committee of the Board, as well as the Senior Leadership Team, including presentations. Identify trends, issues and concerns without breaching confidentiality or anonymity Maintain an active understanding of professional developments in the field of civility and workplace relations Provide advice around required changes to all relevant workplace policies, including those referencing electronic communication and social media

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent experience working in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite and corporate productivity tools
  • The ability to maintain impartiality, objectivity and diplomacy
  • Knowledge of the hospital sector and the health care system
  • The ability to treat sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and diplomacy at all times
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills to build strong relationships within all levels of an organization, gain credibility and network effectively with all internal and external clients and partners
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Ethical, credible and carries self with high degree of integrity
  • Excellent problem solving skills, analytical skills, sound judgement, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
