Director, Talent Management

Seneca College is actively seeking its next Director, Talent Management. Reporting to the Vice-President, Human Resources, the Director, Talent Management is responsible for providing strategic leadership in talent management, learning and development, and talent acquisition. The Director will engage in the development of leading-edge talent strategies, programming and assessments (e.g., performance management, leader/core competency development, succession and career development, and engagement strategies); and lead the renewal of the talent acquisition team, including the development of an employee value proposition and corresponding employer branding strategy, innovative sourcing strategies for critical talent segments, and leading the development of a robust talent acquisition strategy, policies and process. As a proactively inclusive leader, the Director will apply an inclusion and diversity lens in the development of talent strategies, processes, policies, and programs; and will serve as a role model in the development of an organizational culture that embeds equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) principles in all strategic and operational activities. The incumbent will apply an anti-racist, anti-colonial approach to talent management and will ensure that decision-making reflects EDI considerations.

The Director will provide senior level management direction and expertise while focusing on supporting the development of Seneca’s community of faculty and staff. The Director will provide appropriate learning and development supports and resources at each stage of the employee life cycle, from talent attraction and acquisition to retention. The role has a key focus on accelerating the progression of high-potential employees, ensuring a consistent leadership pipeline, building internal capacity and fostering a diverse, respectful, healthy and inspired workforce. The Director, Talent Management may be required to act on behalf of the Vice President, Human Resources in their absence.

ShapeAs the ideal candidate, you are a strategic and innovative thinker with a minimum of eleven (11) years of directly-related, progressive leadership experience. You are able to coach and lead organizational teams in the development of talent strategies that result in effective and high impact performance. You have a Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Industrial or Organizational Psychology, Education, Human Resources or an MBA or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Chartered Human Resource Leader (CHRL) designation is preferred.

As a team player and collaborator, you easily build consensus, and generate trust and cooperation among others. You are respectful and demonstrate ethical behaviour in all you do. You are resourceful and organized. You delegate duties responsibly and effectively, thereby achieving high-quality results.

You have experience in organizational and leadership development, succession planning, and talent management, including strategic recruiting. You have exceptional communication skills, are knowledgeable about current principles, practices and trends in talent acquisition and talent management; and have experience developing talent strategies, selecting and implementing performance management systems, succession planning programs and competency models that embed equity, diversity and inclusion.
