Founded in 1985, Community Care, City of Kawartha Lakes (CCCKL) proudly serves the residents of City of Kawartha Lakes with a diversity of health care and community support services. With offices in Lindsay and Fenelon Falls, we employ approximately 175 team members and rely on nearly 300 active volunteers. We are seeking a Director of People and Culture to lead the way for CCCKL to be recognized as a best employer and the top choice for volunteers. In this senior role, you will develop and implement strategies to increase organizational effectiveness and facilitate realization of a positive organizational culture aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives and priorities. You will lead and collaborate with other members of the leadership team to develop and implement innovative best practices in employee and volunteer recruitment, support and development. You will serve as Head of Health & Safety, ensuring organizational compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements and will also have accountability for our Accessibility Plan, our Equity-Diversity-Inclusion strategy and annual French Language Reporting. Reporting to the CEO, you will provide advice and counsel on matters pertaining to human resources and volunteer workforce strategy, human and organizational development, succession planning and other related areas.


Key Accountabilities:
 Researches and proactively updates leadership regarding human resources trends, issues, and data, and makes recommendations that progress the organization’s approaches to developing and supporting people who work and volunteer at CCCKL
 Develops an annual Human Resources and Organizational Development Plan including objectives and measureable outcomes aligned with the organization’s Strategic and Operating Plans
 Designs, implements and evaluates the effectiveness of human resources and volunteer program activities, including retention and recruitment initiatives, employee and volunteer engagement, compensation design, orientation and mentorship, training and development, succession planning and performance feedback management
 Co-creates and enables the organization’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy and action plan including serving as the senior management liaison to the EDI Committee
 Measures and reports on human resources performance metrics and outcomes, implementing change as needed
 Fosters progressive leadership approaches in a complex and dynamic work environment
 Serves as the management contact with SEIU, ensures compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and leads the collective bargaining process for the organization
 Writes, researches and updates related policies, procedures, and guidelines
 Studies existing and new legislation, anticipates change, ensures organizational adherence to requirements, and advises the organization on needs and actions
 Maintains and updates professional knowledge through continuous learning


Educational Requirements and Key Competencies for this Position:
 Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent
 CHRP and/or CHRL Designation
 Minimum 7 years’ experience in Human Resources leadership with experience in all HR functions, preferably within the health care or community based services sector
 Experience in payroll administration and knowledge of HRIS and Quadrant (CCIM)
 Strong track record of identifying and implementing continuous improvements
 Sound knowledge of employment legislation including, but not limited to, Human Rights, Employment Standards, Accessibility, Occupational Health & Safety, Equity-Diversity-Inclusion, human resources best practices and the Living Wage employer initiative
 WSIB Health & Safety Certified (preferred)
