Sensity seeks an experienced Director of Human Resources for an immediate opening for a full time role. Reporting to our Chief Executive Officer (CEO), join our committed team in providing a broad range of services to a dynamic group of leaders and staff.

This position is based in Paris, ON, and  as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the Director of Human Resources (HR) provides leadership for all areas of human resources (HR) management for the organization, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and adoption of best practices in the attraction, engagement and retention of talent.

The Director of Human Resources oversees, plans for and champions organizational planning, recruitment and selection, employee training, health & safety, performance management, labour relations, employee services and employee compensation, with the aim of ensuring that the most qualified talent is able to provide needed support and services to consumers.

 Essential Position Functions:

  • Leads, coaches and directs the HR team in the effective, efficient and compliant delivery of HR services to achieve organizational objectives. Directly oversees the HR Manager, Benefits and Payroll Administrator, the HR Generalist, and the Employee Navigation Specialist. Makes hiring, performance management and disciplinary decisions for these roles.
  • Acts as a key contributor to the collective bargaining process. Builds productive and respectful relations with union partners in the course of labour-management meetings, grievance and arbitration management as well as other complex labour relations issues.
  • Provides guidance and expertise to management and supervisory employees in the interpretation of HR policies, and in matters of employee performance management or employee relations, to ensure compliance with Sensity policy, legislative requirements and best practice.
  • Develops and maintains organizational HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date and compliant with relevant legislation (e.g. employment standards, human rights, accessibility, health & safety, etc.).
  • Oversees the recruitment function, providing full cycle recruitment for all senior level positions, including coordinating orientation plans in order to recruit top talent.
  • Maintains the performance management process, in order to ensure alignment with the organization's performance management policies.
  • Ensures the HRIS system is configured and updated regularly to track relevant organizational metrics inclusive but not limited to attendance and training. Compiles HR statistics, runs reports and performs analyses as required to support organizational decision-making.
  • Develops, manages and champions a culture of recognition including the creation and implementation of an employee recognition program (i.e., service / spot awards and peer-to-peer) to attract, recognize and retain top talent. 
  • Effectively manages any outsourced contracts and resources for return to work, compensation and job evaluation.
  • Performs other duties, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resource management or a related field; CHRL designation also required. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation and non-profit leadership certificate and Mental Health First Aid training would be assets.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a senior HR leadership role with at least three (3) years of people management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage people resources by communicating job expectations, planning for, monitoring and appraising performance results.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • In-depth knowledge of HR principles, processes and best practices in employee relations, performance management and recruitment & selection.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with strong relationship building and influence skills. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Advanced time management, attention to detail and organizational skills. Adaptable and flexible with an ability to respond to changing work priorities, pressure and demands.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access (or equivalent database software) and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems and HRIS is required. Working knowledge of the Intervenor Services sector is a definite asset.
