Summary

 

Reporting to the Manager, HR Advisory Services and Support, the HR Advisor works closely with the Senior HR Business Partner to deliver a range of Human Resources services and programs in Client Advisory, Talent Acquisition, Disability Management, HR Information and Data, and HR projects and initiatives.

What will you do?

 

Advisory Services:

 

  • Respond to employee and management inquiries by providing accurate, complete and timely information on the scope and application of HR Policies, Programs and Initiatives. Provide support to the Sr. Human Resources Business Partners (SHRBPs) and HR Branch management, by conducting research, gathering data, collecting and summarizing background information and developing briefing and/or presentation materials. Develop relationships with stakeholders to ensure required client support services are delivered effectively.

Talent Acquisition:

 

  • Manage the assigned end-to-end recruitment and staffing activities and support the SHRBPs and HR Management with recruitment for complex roles, including at the executive level. Engage with hiring manager(s) to develop recruitment and sourcing strategies for assigned roles, pre-screen candidates, prepare pre- and post-interview materials, and offer letters and conduct pre-employment checks. Maintain resume databases and candidate pools, interface with search firms and advertising agencies, and monitor social, professional and networking websites to facilitate candidate sourcing and selection.

Disability Management:

 

  • Be responsible for the effective coordination of disability claims, including monitoring and communicating claim updates between employee, manager, payroll and external claim management provider. Communicate benefit policy, process and role expectations, respond to questions, and exercise judgement to identify claim risks, or irregularities, or escalate complex or contentious issues. Provide support to SHRBPs to facilitate the effective management of complex or contentious claims. 

Programs & Services Support:

 

  • Coordinate Health & Safety and/or Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) committee work and project activities, and ensure the seamless completion of agenda action items and distribution of documentation, as required. Stay abreast of legislative requirements, communicate updates to committee members and track OSC compliance with legislation. Lead the Summer Student and/or Articling Student programs, coordinate activities and provide input on program enhancement initiatives. Provide support in the implementation of HR Programs & Services initiatives and projects. Maintain recruitment, position control and workforce data, track performance indicators and metrics, and provide analytical reports to support workforce planning activities.

Who You Are

 

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively senior experience in human resources. A degree or diploma in Human Resources Management and a professional designation such as Certified Human Resources Professional or Leader (CHRP or CHRL), an asset. A strong orientation to client service delivery, solutions-focused, demonstrated business acumen and judgement in a professional fast-paced environment. Demonstrated professional credibility and discretion in dealing with confidential, sensitive information. Knowledge of employment legislation, with experience interpreting and applying this within the context of human resources policies and programs. Experience performing full-cycle recruitment, including proficiency in Applicant Tracking System (ATS) systems and coordinating with external recruitment agencies, as needed. Demonstrated experience in complex disability claims management, including return-to-work plans and accommodation requests. Ability to proactively identify and seek out opportunities to learn.
