We are seeking an experienced Human Resources leader to join the expert staff in our Facilities Management division in the role of Manager, Human Resources. Facilities Management is responsible for the planning, development, construction, operation, maintenance and stewardship of all the buildings, infrastructure, sites and services within Western's campus community. Our vision is to be recognized as the leader in facilities management among research-intensive universities worldwide.

About the Role
In this role, you have the opportunity to champion new projects and initiatives that will enhance the employee experience in Western’s Facilities Management division. You will lead the implementation of human resources functions and programs, including recruitment of a wide variety of interesting roles; performance, attendance and engagement initiatives; and support of collective bargaining and labour relations matters. Working with a collaborative and innovative leadership team, you will provide comprehensive advice and support to leaders and staff within the division, building relationships and strategic networks, while ensuring resources and controls are in place, and best practices for the best candidate and employee experience are followed. In addition, you will lead a dynamic team of HR professionals, providing coaching and training, and collaborating to support the continuous improvement of HR practices within this important portfolio.

About You
This role will appeal to an organized, client-focused individual with an interest in developing innovative programs and enhancing the employee experience.  You have strong leadership skills, with a passion for leading others to excellence. An effective communicator, you display professionalism, diplomacy and discretion, dealing with all levels of the organization and individuals with diverse backgrounds. You have a keen sense of judgment, and well-honed analytical and problem-solving skills, with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities. In addition, you have an undergraduate degree and experience in Human Resources (preferably in a unionized environment), which provides you with an understanding of best practices for assessing and developing processes and procedures and an in-depth knowledge of HR principles and practices, along with relevant legislation. You also have experience managing staff and projects, with knowledge of approaches for working with individuals in groups in a constructive manner. In addition, you have achieved your Certified Human Resources Leader designation (CHRP or CHRL), and preferably, you have some training or courses in conflict resolution or mediation.
